Super User J Francho Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Looks like a Revo wearing a Zillion tuxedo! Sub 5 oz. is impressive. 1 Quote
Diggy Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Looks like a Revo wearing a Zillion tuxedo! Sub 5 oz. is impressive. I wonder if anyone will come out with a reel lighter than that to one up them. Will you be buying one with your residuals from Let's make a deal, Mr. Gameshow? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Probably not, Revos aren't my cup of tea, and I would never spend that much on a reel. $300 is about my cutoff. 1 Quote

bassinbrian Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I'm not a big Abu guy either, though I just purchased 2 Abu reels .....but that being said I'd rather spend that $400 on something else personally I do want to hear people's hands on impression/review. Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Holy moly! Like the guys in the pizza parlor insurance commercial, THATS A LOT OF DOUGH! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 At what point does the lightweight design take away from durability? For me in a kayak i find myself banging rods and reels a little more than when i am in a regular boat. It does look pretty sweet though.... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 Holy moly! Like the guys in the pizza parlor insurance commercial, THATS A LOT OF DOUGH! Seems pretty aggressively priced to me. It's aimed squarely at the Daiwa Steez crowd, for a $100 less. Quote

I don't know about the Revo, but I have a few Shimano CI4, as well as a few Daiwa Ziaon reels, and they are nothing like the old, graphite framed reels. They are as durable as any other reel. Quote

Doubled Over Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Looks cool but is a bit pricey. I would like to hold one and see what it feels like but I don't see myself spending that much money on a reel. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 Looks sharp! I like that they didn't spec it with mag brakes, the best casting Revo I own is the original Skeet Reese model with only centrifugal brakes. Quote
21farms Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I like that they didn't spec it with mag brakes... yeah, but the MGX uses IVCB brakes, a variation on centrifugal brakes with different braking characteristics Quote

Dyerbassman Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 $500???!!! Not a chance. The price is only as high as someone is willing to pay. And I'm not willing to pay that. 1 Quote
