Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 31, 2013 Super User Posted January 31, 2013 If I could not afford to buy something before I received a windfall I'd probably save the money and buy nothing. If I could afford an item before some kind of cash back, I would have already bought it. In this day and age $240 is not a lot of money, I'd most likely put the money in an emergency fund not a recreational expenditure. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 31, 2013 Super User Posted January 31, 2013 A new Shimano spinning reel. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Boga Grip, Frog Toggs, and various tackle. Or I would go with a new Chronarch and save the rest toward a new rod. Quote
loodkop Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I would order dome of the lures I only read about like LC pointers, roboworms and a couple of swimbaits. Most likely I would by more plastic and or jig molds. I love catching fish on lures I made myself. Quote
Jig Meister Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I would buy two more speed spools and line for them Quote
wisconsin heat Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'd throw it down on a combo. probably a spinning one. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Best investment you can ever make is go buy some cabelas guidewear on sale For your new partner i'm sure. She looks like she might get chilly during the boat ride. Quote
JeziHogg Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'd buy a shimano curado and maybe a veritas garcia rod..good combo and 240 would prob get it. Anyone else think thats sort of.... cliche... But whatever floats you boat i guess. I'd find another $40 and get a St Croix LTB Quote
jignfule Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 1/2 of an NRX rod. (don't know whick half) 1 Quote
xxjace Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Anyone else think thats sort of.... cliche... But whatever floats you boat i guess.I'd find another $40 and get a St Croix LTB . Just really like the veritas rods and curados good combos. Quote
upnorthbassin Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If I had to buy just one rod I'd probably get a legend xtreme from the st croix bargain room. If I had to buy one reel I would get one of the Lews Team series reels. Quote
gripnrip Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 For your new partner i'm sure. She looks like she might get chilly during the boat ride. Ohhhh nooooo way. If I went with that option I would want to do the warming up thank you! Quote

The $240 was allotted for recreational use. I have a good 401k and other savings. But rather than spending I could throw it in savings but that wouldn't be as much fun! Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 2 sunglasses. One with amber lenses and the other with smoke lenses Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 The other half of jignfule's NRX. Quote
29JMP29 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 stuff for my jon boat, either a casting deck or a trolling motor Quote
Bass Junkie Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 You can never have enough reels, and for 240 guilt-free dollars I'd purchase a Daiwa Alpahas or Pixy. But if you don't "need" another reel, you could upgrade those ones you just got with Carbontex drag washers and Boca Orange Seal bearings, and maybe a Hawg Tech handle or two... Quote
