Hm. Good luck with that. Did you buy her an hour-long massage on Groupon to ease the situation?

Hahaha. Been there dude. I was smart, i had items shipped to my office. But "smart" me forgot that my credit card bill comes to my house. The one day that my wife took her lunch break at the house is the same day the bill came...

Wow you are a rookie.....paperless billing :)

I never hide anything. I figure its not worth the hassle, I have been known to send flowers or an edible arrangement though a few days prior to bringing up what I want to get though :)

Yea yeah, i got caught up on that 25 days of chrstmas sale and kept pushing thethem "add to cartyou button" before i knew it was almost 600 bucks...i paniced.lol I normally we are pretty open about purchases. My wife is all for fishing. She was more upset that i didnt tell her or ask if she wanted anything. Lol i dont mind being a rookie when it comes to being shady...lol

You need to do what I do. When I get a rod, I get the wife one too.

I've made that offer. But I worry it has backfired as it seems I've sufficiently turned her off to fishing. She just doesn't understand the need for ... well, more new things to catch fish.

"But honey, this is newER than the stuff I bought last month. Honestly, I need it."

<she escorts me out to dog house>

"Can I at least have another blanket?"

Dinner and a shopping trip should do the trick.

I dont hide it either, my gear sits plainly in her sight, however I do not tend to advertise the purchases :D

it just sort of adds up....and eyes roll :D

As they say, it's always easier to say "sorry" after the purchase has been made, and arrived, than ask for permission in the first place.

But then, she always knows anyway. Like she has a 6th sense. Or I'm just that dumb and easily read like a book.

I've tried that a few times.  It never works.  My wife doesn't fish.  But, if I have to take the heat, I may as well double down.

A nice night out to dinner,  then a day out with the kids to give her some alone time always worked for me.

This reminds me of my car projects. I buy cars for dirt cheap, and then the parts start arriving in the mail. My old lady always gives me that look (the I know you just spent more on that car than you do on me look.)

If the wifey had any clue what I've spent on my Bus she'd kill me.

Man, glad i don't have "one of those" wifes! Ha, just told her this weekend i "need" dual power poles to keep fishing. She said well than get them already! Woo hoo.....

I tend to "trade" a lot of rods and reels with you forum members! (Wink! Wink!)

Also, many of my reels go out "for repair, maintenance, and cleaning."   Gotta keep stuff working, don't you.  Therefore stuff is always coming in.  (And i DO send reel out for maintenance or rare occasions)

Like changing the oil in your car.

Man, you guys are a bunch of "Tenderfoots!'
