flippin and pitchin Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Well A-Jay I met James Brown once and you don't see me posting how I just met the godfather of soul, and he's even shorter than Timmy Horton. Seriously, when Mark came back on tour after an illness that almost killed him, and to win his first event back, that speaks volumes about the man. Sorry about the teasing Mark. You have a lot of fans and I for one, am one of them. 3 Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 I first met Mark at the 2003 Richmond Bassmaster University program. He was a fantastic speaker and an outstanding teacher. I was impressed with him from the start of his presentation to the end. Since then I have followed his career and watched some DVDs where he was featured. He gave us a scare with some health issues a few years ago but he is now back as strong as ever. He fishes, or did fish, with his dog, Barkley in the boat. My grandog is an Aussie and I would love to take him fishing with me but unlike Barkley, Simmy has the habit of jumping out of the boat. Mark is a wonderful ambassador for bass fishing and he has a wealth of knowledge that I hope he shares with us. Welcome Mark! Don't be a stranger and good luck on the tournament trail this year. Super User Shane J Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 Yeah, he is a nice guy. I met him last year. Very smart dude, and a wonderful family man. Sam, I don't think he's fishing this year, due to some health issues with his wife, he wants to be around for her. Hopefully, that'll give him a little time to come on here, and share some stuff! 0119 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Everything you guys say about him is very true. But I have to ask, in this etherial world of the www how do you know it really is him? On a mountain bike forum which is the cycling worlds eqivalent of this site, a guy went for years having the forum believe he was Natalie Portman. I always loved seeing him fish with Barkley. God bless him and his family after what he went through. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 Well, I suppose you're right, but this site is moderated closer than other sites, and many pros do come here. Mark is just a regular guy, with a cool job. He's always happy to talk fishing, and share experiences, so I have no doubt he is a member here. Quote
