Needle Nose Pliers with Lanyard

I'm looking for a decent pair of needle nose pliers with lanyard and sheath.  It would also be great if they were corrosion resistant, light weight and had a good line/hook cutter built in.  And, of course, I'd rather not spend more on the pliers than I would on a new rod.  Thanks

You can take a string or lanyard of choice to affix to the sheath.

I got a Leatherman Squirt P-4 for Christmas several years back and thought, "What a joke, this thing cant work, its way too small and light" Was I wrong. I love the little thing. It weighs only 2 ounces and is very strong. Trust me, I've put it to the test. While thay are more expensive than other mini multi tools in my opinion they are worth every penny.

Rapala makes a nice plier with a lanyard. It also has a o-ring spreader on the tip. I hook a nail clipper on the other end of the lanyard so that I always have it handy.

I have a multi-tool that is always on my belt. It has everything I need toolwise.

My wife got me a pair of the Ross Pescadors a couple years ago when I was still guiding.  Man, I love these things; I would be lost without them.

Those on the far left in the photo are great.  Thought they would be too big, but they have been 10x better than any other needle nose I've ever used.

Avoid anything made by X-Tools.

just don't get anything Mustad !!! cause if you your looking for corrosion resistance , these don't hold up at all , they are advertised as being "stainless steel" , maybe a little , but not 100% , mine are all rusty , don't even use them any more  > as far as plier shopping , i now buy them at harbor freight for as little as $1.99 , when they get bad , i just buy new ones . i am not gonna buy good ones because it seems these are the first tool to go over board

Stainless steel is a nickel alloy and not all stainless products will be equal in ni content and corrosion resistance, I agree that many stainless pliers do not hold up well.  For my freshwater I use a $2.00 pair that work fine, lose em just buy a new pair.

Saltwater different story, I was in the tackle shop yesterday and the clerk showed me his personal pair of aluminum pliers, most impressive I have seen to date, they don't sell them in that store and I missed the brand name but I will get the name........only $30, these I want.  Extreme light weight, on a lanyard, side cutting tool for braid and replaceable blades.

I've heard super things about the Slicks but have yet to get my hands on them.  At that price, they're worth another couple pair.

The thing I like about my Ross (and others like them) is that the carbide cutter will cut absolutely anything I fish with(in terms of line.)

Most cheaper pliers won't cut braid with any consistency, particularly not small diameter.

for braid , i use fiskars kid scissors , been cutting braid on the pair i currently use for over a year . and they only cost about $4.00 !!!!

I'm terrible for losing scissors.  Remember the Culprit braid blade?  I spent $150 on those things, and I still can't find one of them.  I'm terrible about it.  Gimme my pliers with a pigtail lanyard, and it's a non-issue

Those are not the pliers, pliers I have in mind have a side cut and holes, very light.

I no longer use a scissors, I lose em and saltwater kills them and I don't like a clean cut.  I use a bic lighter for braid, it's fast and puts a little nib on the end of the tag line, knot won't pull thru.

The Dr. Slick Barracudas were about the price and style I was considering.  Until this year I had never heard of them.  Thanks for the other other brands to check out.

Do the Multi-Tools offer enough length and leverage to get hooks that are down deep?

I have been using some 8 inch (I think) Rapala pliers.  They work fine and due to my casual style of fishing are still in good condition.  However, I'd like a pair with a sheath/lanyard so that I have them with me at all times.  Fishing from the banks, sometimes my tackle box is a ways off and I'd rather not leave a fish on the shore while I retrieve the pliers.
