TrapperJ Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Well got a warm day tomorrow, been 60ish today, and supposed to hit 72 tomorrow! So me and my buddy are off to try our luck on our lunch break. Here's what we plan on try'n My buddy likes to throw spinnerbaits so he's got that covered and probably a Rat-L-Trap Myself I pre-rigged a 3-wire yumbrella, with 4" money minnows, 2 white/chart and one in the middle white with red nose. Figure try that slow rolling what the heck! Hehe Also pre-dipped my money minnows in JJ Magic and sealed In a baggy for overnight, wow is that stuff strong! Can't wait to see if it gives me an edge. Also my next go to bait I'm looking to is baby brush hawg watermelon red flake on a shakey head, if no luck there try some of my new roboworms on the same shakey head. If still no luck may look to trying either fluke with a scrounger jig head, or a weightless black/blue senko or a weightless caffeine shad. Is there anything you would try or leave off of this list? Remember you only got 60 mins! Hope we find some tomorrow! Quote
BassnChris Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 If I went fishin' on my lunch hour I would get fired! Because I would not make it back to work until way after dark. ;-) Have fun and let us know what works. 1 Quote
PondBoss Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Gotta throw a crank of some sort. Use a real erratic retrieve and mix it up until you get hits or follows. Bomber Fat Free Guppy, Sebile Crankster, Norman Thin-N are 3 cranks I caught them on last week, and you know how cold it was. It was 37* the day I caught fish on those baits. I will say though that I tend to try the opposite of what is "mainstream" when it comes to fishing. If everyone says slow down, I speed up. Sometimes fishing outside the box is just what those fish need to wake up. Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 yeah i saw 15-30 wind maybe! I planned to mostly concentrate on plastics today. I just packed a small tackle box but i did manage to throw in a couple of square bill 2.5 crankbaits, black back chart and bluegill. Also tossed in a Red eye Chrome Sexy Shad lipless too, and just encase my buddy goes to hitting them on spinnerbaits i threw in my two new megastrike spinnerbaits. Brought the JJ's Magic to help out too, first day I will be putting it to the test! Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 There not the biggest in the world, but any bass i catch in January i consider a victory! Both came off of Baby Bass Fluke on a scrounger jig head. (Thanks for the tip gripnrip!) My buddy also caught 1 Bass and 1 Crappie as well. His came off a red eye chart. shad Really didnt think we had what they wanted, still surprised they were willing to chase, on what i would say was a medium speed retrieve. 1 Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 just ole chunk and reel straight in about medium speed, nothing special, we were just about to call it quits, the crappie being the only thing caught so far on the lipless crankbait, then boom missed a bite, then boom boom caught those two and then it was time to go back to work.
