Super User jbsoonerfan Posted January 27, 2013 Super User Posted January 27, 2013 I would like for Shimano to either make a reel with a 90mm handle or make a 90mm handle with power knobs to buy aftermarket. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 27, 2013 Super User Posted January 27, 2013 Roadwarrior, speaking of making changes to Shimano reels, how about removing all plastic and relpacing the gears, etc. with real metal???? Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I have large hands and like the longer reel handles on my Lews BB1 and Super Duty. I would have my Tournament Pros with graphite 95 mm handles. Quote
BassmanDan Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I wouldn't ask for improvements, just bring back the Chronarch 50MG!!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 27, 2013 Super User Posted January 27, 2013 Yep, I have two and they are still favorites! Quote

He said within the same manufacturer.
baluga Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Yeah bring back the CH50Mg but change the material to a CI4/Rarium material instead of Magnesium and call it CH50Ra . So I would not worry using them in Brackish and Salt water. 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 28, 2013 Super User Posted January 28, 2013 He said within the same manufacturer. Well, then most DO interchange. Often you need to order the drag star as well, to get the whole system to work in harmony. You aren't putting a swept handle on a Daiwa Sol without some modification. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 28, 2013 Super User Posted January 28, 2013 I'd like to see Shimano have more LH options for the Citica G and Curado G. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted January 28, 2013 Super User Posted January 28, 2013 A custom reel option, sorta like Z-Bone but with reels. You pick the color, frame, spool, bearing quality, handle/knobs, etc 2 Quote
Jig Meister Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Left hand options for all styles, I learned on left handed gear and now that is all I use, I feel I get better action on the bait using my dominate hand to work it, and using my off hand to reel feels right. II like abu's and lews reels, I would like to see them all come with hawg tech handles Quote
The Next KVD Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I'd like to see Shimano bring back the Chronarch B series but with less weight without sacrificing the solid feel of the all aluminum reel. The profile of that reel really fits my hands just PERFECT and the COLOR is just down right SICK! Quote
skeletor6 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I would, in general, like to see reels get lighter in the <$200 department. Shimano Core 50mg's are great reels, but it would be nice for them to have a cheaper alternative. I am sure that getting a reel in the 5 ounce range is tough without the reels going up in price, but I really enjoy fishing with light reels and if they were more affordable then that it would be great. Lighter equipment to me = better as long as strength and longevity is still intact. Quote
guitarkid Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I also have to agree about the lefty reels also. That is one reason I have mostly pro qualifiers and shimanos. -gk Quote
Quitlimpin Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I would like for Shimano to either make a reel with a 90mm handle or make a 90mm handle with power knobs to buy aftermarket. Even better if they were swept! Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 31, 2013 A core 51 for $200 would be sweet Your not asking much . But yes, yes it would! Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 31, 2013 I edited the title to include rods as well. I have been shopping for a new pitching rod and have noticed that some of the higher end rods are lacking in some small things. For instance the Duckett rods. They look amazing. I'm not a huge fan of cork, but I love the color and split grip. I just can't stand the hook keeper. Also I would like to see them with a more exposed reel set like my Veritas and Crucials. The new white ice are dead sexy but with the reel seat and hook keeper, I keep shying away. Plus the price is amazing too. I have been thinking about a G. Loomis GL2. But again the reel seat doesn't do it for me. I wish they came in black too. My message to all reel and rod manufactures.......black black black baby! 1 Quote
hatrix Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 No one has improvements for rods? Ok well... I would like up locking reel seats like on shimano rods and no exposed threads EVER. As for spinning I would like to see more or bigger front corks. I don't split my grip and lots of rods I would be interested in have tiny grips that don't fit my hand or almost none at all. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 One of my favorite rod companies is Hurricane redbone, I'd like to see 2 changes. Their 7' inshore rods have too short a rear butt for my taste and I wish they made 10/20 mh rod with a 2 oz lure rating in addition to the 1 oz models. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 I would like to see a rod that you don't have to worry about knocking off the guides, or the tip. While we're at it lets just make one that is unbreakable. Quote

Fishwhittler Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I would like to see more aftermarket parts available in the USDM. More lefty reels would be nice, as well. A core 51 for $200 would be sweet That's what happens in 2014. Due to exchange rate differences, Shimano will be forced to give the Citica G a graphite frame, use a lower bearing count in the Curado G, switch the Chronarch E to the G platform (while giving it a snazzy new coat of paint), and then the Core gets an aluminum frame in the 50/51. The Core 100 is phased out and replaced with the Core 200/201, also with an aluminum frame. The new Core also gets a two-tone gunmetal and black paint job. The new series is called the "H" generation, and is praised by diehard Shimano users for lowering prices on all models across the board. Quote
