Eddie Cole Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I am wanting to take a trip to mud creek bass fishing .When would be the best time to go this spring? Quote
Crappiebasser Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I don't fish north of Scottsboro much but I would go the last 2 weeks of March. The weather has been so mild this winter it should be 65+ degrees by then. Quote
Eddie Cole Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Thanks I went the first week of march last year and it was still pretty cool .The water was 52 on average .But the bigger bass wasnt in the creeks yet . We caught several bass but most of them was 2 or 3 pounders ,dad did catch 1 about 6 pound but it was pretty slow.I didnt know if I needed to wait till the lillys came on out or just go the last of march ,first of april. Crappiebasser Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 The water is more stable temp wise down lake so if there is a cold snap when you go you can always put in around Honeycomb. There are big fish in that area and IMO the prespawn lasts longer in the lower lake. 1 Quote
zip pow Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I like it the second week of march but this year it maybe better earlier because of high temps and no winter its 57 degrees today water is around 54 to 57 in the back of creeks it did drop into the 40's earlier this week but it warmed back up quick there's a bill lewis trap tourney feb 2 and I bet mud creek will be where its won 1 Quote
PotomacBassin Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Does it ever start to get crowded on Guntersville? My wife and I will be coming down the last week of March, probably Sunday through Wednesday. We're staying at the Best Western Plus, but we've never been there and are hoping it's not too crowded. We're coming from the Potomac, which is known to be too crowded and overfished. Just glad there's a lot of water up here to at least try and space out. Quote
Shane Mccormick Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Guntersville is alwyas crowded, during the winter monday through wednesday isnt so bad but it gets beat to death all year long Quote

Ya'll should go down and fish browns creek you'll be close to it and its good fishing especially around the cause way Quote

I don't know exactly where that is, but I saw Brown Creek road which is on the other side of the land where we're staying. We won't be staying in one spot for the couple days that we're there, so I'm sure we'll hit it up. Quote

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 I plan on going the first week in April with a buddy, I've been a few times and although the ramps are crowded, theres never been a lack of fishing area. Boat traffic can get a little heavy but thats later in the summer like zip pow said. We normally fish North Sauty out of goosepond, out of waterfront, or down in Sebold. Any suggestion this time of year? Not to hijack but I think we both would benefit. <------That one came two years ago on the humps just outside of goosepond Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 We wil be going the last week of March. We've never been there, but were invited in a "too good to pass up" offer to split cabin costs, right on the lake. I'm not sure exactly where on the lake we will be yet, but looking forward to going anyway. Quote

Finally checked back on this post. Is this for real? Is this really March 23/24th? I'm going to look this up, but I guess the good thing is we'll be there from 23-27th which should give us some less crowded times during the week. You said you haven't been over crowded during this, but where is it based out of? The state park? I could always stay south if that's the case, but I guess with 700 boats it won't matter where it's based out of. Quote
zip pow Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Weigh in will be hourly at goosepond colony tourney format is that you can launch boat from any ramp on the lake as long as you don't start fishing till 6 am till 2 pm its for real y'all should fish it while your here its about 180$ for both days and could win 155000$ or there about for big fish Quote

Or maybe I'll be able to find a cove or creek with not too much traffic. It looks like it's going to be boats flying up and down the lake with weigh ins all day. And hopefully it dies down after 2 pm each day, but I could see people staying out all day. Thanks a bunch for the heads up. Quote

Thanks a bunch for the heads up. I fished this same tournament on Sam Rayburn it had 7551 boats and still had plenty of room it's about three time bigger than gville if that gives you a visual Quote

That's pretty far north from us, so this may help us out some. Quote
