Got up to 55 here today, back in the 30's tomorrow. Got out for about 6 hours after I got off work at 8 this morning with a buddy from work. Not as many largemouth as we'd hoped and no smallmouth but between the few largemouth we got and the big white bass we put 110 fish in the boat. A little over 18 fish an hour ain't bad for January :)

70 degrees as I type this at at 5PM.

Ate lunch at Bass Pro today, picked up some Scrounger jigs on sale and some RC 1.5's for $4.88.

Home this afternoon to charge my new boat (10months) and go out tomorrow morn after massage.

Tinkering with different rod and reel combos and drinking coffee, eating steak and drinking Champagne at night.

Aaaaaahh!  Just retired!!  And for sure guys, you need to do it sooner.  Took Social Secuity while I was working and spent it all on fishing stuff.

I just don't understand how you guys manage with all that cold.  We rarely ever see ice down here in South Louisiana and you can't go 5 miles without crossing water.

I passed up jobs in Iowa and South Dakota because I went up there a couple of weeks in the Winter and the temp was around 10 degrees!  Heck, the FALLS in Sioux Falls was FROZEN!  Never saw something like that.

Of course, lots of you guys have never attended a "Hurricane Party" either.   Now, that there's a different kind of "fun."

Oh man do I love my Scroungers!

Hootie, I pointed out everything that was wrong with theTracker, and discounted the price for those things, and the guy still wanted it.  He was the first guy to look at it, paid cash, and drove it away. In reality it was a great boat that served me well and it was all I could afford at the time I bought it.  Twelve years is pretty good for an entry level boat. I tried to take good care of it, it was always stored in my garage, and was never abused.  The guy got a good boat at a very fair price.

Given your duty to your country, and your profession, I would have expected nothing less. Thank you for your service.

Been retired and in Florida full time for about 10 years, hadn't been for my gr children I'd be in Costa Rica.  Fishing for snook, tarpon, jacks, occasional trips for bonefish, redfish and permit, then some bass fishing in the afternoon, think that's fun.........

It isn't all it's cracked up to be, yeh I fish 7 days a week, some days I don't have a clue on what I want my target to be, just gotta have variety.  That said I miss the action of being in business more than being retired, have lost my edge.  Sometimes I look back and wish I was back in Detroit doing what I did.

Jarhead, I don't doubt you one bit. I was just razzin you a little. Razzin must not be a real word, my spell checker just went off. Congrats on your upcoming retirement. I have been retired for 5 yrs. Enjoy that boat and have as much fun as I am having. Someone posted that retirement isn't what it's cracked up to be. They must have fallen through the wrong crack. I am having a blast!!

Hootie, I kind of thought you were just harrassing a little; but you never know.......some folks have no sense of humor!  The Tracker was my first bass boat and it was a great boat to learn and grow.  Everytime I take the new Ranger out I almost have to pinch myself to remind me this is real, and it's all mine!

I cannot begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to retirement!  I sure don't want to rush the aging thing, but this daily grind of 9-10 hours a day is getting to be a real drag.  I have been saving and planning for this for 25 years, and am looking forward to doing some of the things I want to do!  Fishing, hunting, golfing, shooting pistol competition, traveling, more fishing......these last three months are just dragging.  I can't wait!

I'm 30........I wish I was retired just to fish.......but it looks like I have an easy 35+ years of work left. Some how.........I need to land a job in the fishing industry because other than that, my enthusiasm for work is next to none.

Dont ever turn your passion into your job. I did it with fly fishing and it ruined fly fishing for me. Unless youre out there slingn baits for YOU to win money(like tour) let someone who doesnt love fishing sell fishing.

im self employed, work 6 days a week, 10-12 hr days, but all the hard work makes the hours on the water well worth it. nothing beats a good day of fishing
