buckeye12 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Anyone have any experience with these reels? Quote
GaterB Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 If you search youtube for them, I'm pretty sure teamrippinlipz has an unboxing and gives some info about these reels. Quote
fstr385 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Ive got one for med/heavy flip n pitch, but havent used it a whole lot yet. It likes alot of brakes compared to my other reels (abus) Quote
buckeye12 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Gonna try a couple of them out. Ordered the 5:1 and the 7:1. Mostly good reviews that I've read. Some complaints about backlashing and a couple of lock-ups. Lot of guys said same thing about brakes, fstr385. Had an old Quantum 500EX finally bite the bullet the other day and the wife felt so bad for me she ordered me a couple of these KVD's. can't wait to give em a shot. Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Reviews at BP, are so so. Never been a fan of Quantum's but see if you can find a used one first. That way if you don't like it, you can unload it and not be upside down so bad. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I grabbed one on sale for about $40 a few years ago. It felt like junk right out of the box. Free spooled for about 1/2 a second. Not much better when I got it on the water. It felt like a coffee grinder. I never got around to taking it back--it's probably buried in the garage somewhere. Quote
katmandew Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I think the KVD stuff sells more on name than anything because its KVD. Especially with rods and reels. I do like some of the lures tho. Quote
gripnrip Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 My first bait caster was a Quantum. That was 20 years ago! I have never purchased another one. I have had quite a few different brands. Rite now I'm stuck on BPS PQ's. For the money a great reel. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted January 24, 2013 Super User Posted January 24, 2013 It really depends on which KVD reels your talking about. BPS sells a KVD signature reel that costs $110, it is a BPS exclusive and probably a piece of junk. BPS, TW and other retailers sell KVD reels that cost $299 and are Quantum's top of the line reel. They are probably great reels, as far as Quantum goes. 1 Quote
Super User webertime Posted January 24, 2013 Super User Posted January 24, 2013 It's a Code with lipstick. Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I got this reel earlier this year with the combo at BPS. I can honestly say its a great reel. I can cast a mile and its really smooth. Also with the Rod you get with the combo, you cant beat the price. I'd put this reel right up there with the PQ. I also got a PQ shortly after the KVD siganture series combo and I'm still not sure which reel I like better yet Quote
