You can get some nice bass boats that have a few years on them.Just do your home work and if you buy used make sure to ask how many hours on the motor and if the lower unit has very been rebuilt! I myself like fiberglass, I have a Triton and I love it almost as much as my wife!But if you never have had a boat before I would tend to stay away from a fiberglass boat.If you never had your own boat you will bang it up some when you do get one( we all do it )and you don'y want to learn on a fiberglass boat you can do alot more damage that would be $$$$$$. I have it not for economic reason but I can get in a lot of waters that a fiberglass boat cant go. But it is hard to keep on the lake on very windy days. Which also makes it hard to load on windy days. Quote

RyneB Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 i currently have a Tracker and a Ranger. I loved my tracker, but i needed to upgrade due to storage. I ended up giving the Tracker to my dad. My Tracker is a 2004, and my Ranger a 2000. Its like night and day. I paid the same price for the used ranger as i did for the new tracker. I suggest a good used glass boat. But if you fish small waters, have a tow vehicle that doesnt haul a lot of weight, on a budget, dont need the extra storage of a glass. Get a tin and call it a day. Now if you have 50 grand burning a whole in your pocket, get a new glass boat and have a blast. Quote

Where are you planning on fishing, big lakes, little bodies of water, in between, rocky rivers, shallow ponds? Safety is a huge factor for the waters you plan on fishing, ANY boat can be a great bass boat, but the price for a cheap boat can mean so many different things depending on a given model and year of build and the shape the boat is in. 1 Quote
