I have many different packs of plastics. I keep them in the bags in a tackle box, but have thought about taking them out and putting them in the see-through plastic boxes so I can better see what I have and not just use the ones on top in the tackle box.

How do you organize yours and what about them drying out, smelling things up (some have scent built in to them), etc., if you take them out of the bag?

Thanks!

I think they keep longer in the original packaging, so I put all of mine in zop lock baggies and I write whats in the bag on the outside and I keep them all in a tote that I bought at walmart for a couple of bucks.  I have buzzfrogs, crawdad trailers, senkos, tubes everything seperated.  Just reach in grab the bag I want and then I may have to do some looking to find the right color or brand.

So you want to keep your plastics organized?  Good luck with that.  It is good to have goals.  One of the things that separate us from monkeys is that we can speak about our goals.  Everyone's system works for a while - and then it doesn't and then we try another system.

My current system involves keeping baits in their original bags.   Same baits - different colors are put into gallon zip lock bags and labeled.  The gallon zip locks are then filed into 1 of 4 medium sized soft sided tackle bags based on size and shape.

Bag #1 - Senkos - Senko imitators - big worms

Bag #2 - Tubes

Bag #3 -  Creatures & Chompers

Bag #4 - Anything that doesn't fit categories 1,2, or 3

We will see how long this system lasts

Recycling to the max...

Start with oldest daughter's book satchel that is not "cool" enough anymore to hold it all. Then raided the pile of shaving kit bags I get for Xmas/B-days. Currently those bags are organized as:

1) Worms/sticks

2) Tubes

3) Creature/Hog/Lizard

4) Flukes go in the front of the satchel for quick access.

Craws, chunks, and Beavs, stay in a 3700 box dedicated to the jig game, in my big tackle bag...Then there's the BPS shopping bag full of "duplicates" I can't seem to stop buying when they're on clearance. That one stays hidden, or I'm in trouble... :)

i only fish from shore.

i keep original bags at the house and take 3-5 of whatever ill be using and put them in ziplock bags and throw them in the tackle bag. used baits have their own bag. keeps  weight and clutter down.

Bass Pro, Scheels, and Cabelas Bags with zip locks.  Original Packaging until they wont seal and then label ziplocks in the ziplocks. Organize by size, type and then color if neccessary.

Current Listing:

Senkos

Zoom Worms

Culprit Worms

Creatures/Tubes

Lizards

Gulp

Brush Hogs

I then keep one of the above bags at my feet with a mixture of my favorites and used stuff that I may want to put back on.

I take mine out of their original packing and put them in plano boxes according to type. They keep very well, and even hold their scent. I find it works better for me in my small boat to have things in boxes rather than digging through bags for what I want.

i have about seven 2.5 gallon ziploc bags that i have labeled with a sharpie, into categories like curly/ribbon tail worms, stick baits, creature baits/tubes, craws/chunks, finesse baits, flukes, swimbaits, etc. i have all my plastics in their original packages in these bags, and i just grab whatever i feel like using to take to the lake with me.

I would either use a worm binder or the plano boxes. I use a worm binder for spinner baits! It's kinda ugly in there but all of the same color are in the same ziplock.

As to plano boxes I have two of the dark smoke gray plano boxes from academy that are awesome for me. They have two compartments: One up top with it's own latches and one below with its own latches. You can pack a ton of plastics into two of them and still take up very little space. I've easily got 200 dollars worth of plastics (rage tails mostly) in those two boxes! Pics below:

The sunglasses give a reference to how small these boxes are, thus why I LOOOOVEE THEM!

I keep ALL of my tackle that I use regularly in an H2O brand backpack from Academy for about 35 bucks.

It has:

1 spinnerbait binder in a side pocket

2 of the above plano boxes

1 3700 clear plano box

3 or so of the smaller plano boxes filled with cranks

and several loose bags of plastics stuffed in compartments. I've easily got $500 worth of tackle in that 20 pound bag. It's barely comfortable enough to wear on my back fishing, but the real benefit is taking the kitchen sink with you on the boat without ticking off your co-angler by bogarting his entire deck!

Another benefit to the plano boxes is taking a whole ton of plastics with you should you want to beat the bank without having to take the whole bag. Lately I've been carrying a 3700 or smaller box with swimbaits and the above box for plastics along with 2 rods for bank fishing my favorite pond.
