mattk22 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I am thinking of getting a Talon. I like the idea of no hydraulics and the ability to remove it easily if I buy a new boat. Any owners have opinions on their Talon. My other option would be a Power Pole Sportsman II which costs me about $200 more, I have found good deals on both. Let me know your thoughts. FYI, I have a Stratos 185. Thanks. Quote
BassinB Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I had one and got rid of it for a powerpole.. mine was a pain when going underneath low bridges and when I used it on sandy silty bottom the junk would stick to the pole and then slide up into the housing causing it to grind and stick a little. I don't know.. To me the idea of the Talon sounded good at first but after some real world experience with one I'm glad I got rid of it. Quote
Dean G. Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I got mine a month ago and install was pretty easy. I may be a bit late on this post but i've got more pics. I love it! Quote
smallieking Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 My boss got one, broke it off from the wind, he switched to the power pole and loves it. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 8, 2013 Super User Posted July 8, 2013 Love it. Installed in April. No problems what so ever. The units were upgraded in October of 2012. They improved the clutch and added a flush port. I have the tilt bracket and locks installed as well. Quote
mattk22 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 i ended up getting a Talon. I really like it, the only small complaint i have is it is a touch noisy, other then that couldn't think of how to make it better. Quote

Congrats on your new purchase. You're going to love it.. Quote
Dean G. Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 No doubt you'll enjoy it! Let me recommend the quick disconnect, sold by minn kota. If your going to anchor in a spot for an extended amount of time, and want to save battery juice, you can disconnect the cables by unscrewing them. Super easy to install and worth the money. Let me know if you'd like to see pics of mine! Quote
