I have a Stag model 2T with Leupold Mark IV x-high rings and a Vortex 3x32 scope. Magpul foregrip, magpul trigger guard and magpul stock. I have 12 Magpul P-Mags and 800 rounds of ammo. I have 40 rounds of tracer ammo and a real nice soft side case. What do you guys think a fair asking price is for everything? I have a few people interested, but I am afraid to throw a price out there. From what I have seen on the net, I think $3,000 isn't too far out of touch with reality. Most ammo is about $1 per round right now and AR's are out of this world, if you can even find one. So, what say you? Does my price sound about right? I haven't told them a price yet, just said that I am probably going to sell. Quote

The President's announcement last week rightly punted some of the more troublesome gun control measures back to Congress (where it belongs) while allowing him to posture that he's really serious. If some level or party solidarity is maintained, it's not likely that many of the restrictions people are talking about will make it out of the House. In that case, things will return to something resembling 'normal' in a couple months. Prices seem to have moderated just a little since his address last week adding some weight to this view. On the other hand, the states are still free to do whatever they want... And NY seems to have started a "We can have stricter gun control than you" war among the various governors. Add the continuing publicity around "AR15-style weapons" (whatever that means) being used in crime and anything could happen. If you have a rifle to unload, I would unload it now simply because no one knows what tomorrow will bring. For the gun you listed, I would say a final price between $2-3k seems reasonable in the market. Again, with the volatility, it's impossible to really set where in that range to aim. Quote

Without knowing the condition of the gun, I wouldn't pay more than $1500. But I have all the ar stuff I need. You might be able to find someone in a panic willing to pay more than new retail. JMO Jeff I am gonna agree here. I just bought a Colt LE model with a very similar setup for $1250 last week. It is all what the general public would pay. I got a great deal from a LEO friend who was selling based on his price. Quote

Maybe not in your area, but they're routinely showing up in this area for ~$1100-$1200, and some of the retailers (like Walmart) have had new ones trickling in slowly. The price is already starting to come back down from what it was last week, and the ads listing rifles for $1500+ are being bumped repeatedly by sellers still looking for a sucker...but it's just not happening. I'd strongly advise anyone interested in an AR to wait a few months for the market to stabilize. The panic buyer are snatching up everything they can get their hands on at ridiculous prices, and they're most likely going to take a beating on this stuff when the AWB scare subsides. Quote

However once all this subsides the price is going to bottom out again. The gun market as far as "black guns", ARs, and what not is very cyclical. It hits highs and lows just like the stock market does. Once panic sets in is the time to sell. As soon as it subsides the prices bottom out. If it makes you feel more secure wait a month and see what prices do. However, the longer you wait the more likely the prices will drop. If you can sell it now for 3000 you should jump on that and never look back. Quote

RyneB Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 i have seen most ARs going about $150-$300 over normal price. Most are in the $1,800 range. It seems ammo is the thing that is priced out of control. I was at a gun show today and .223 ammo was going for $1 a round. Before all of this happened, i was paying $5 for 20 rounds of cheap 7.62 ammo for my AK. At the gun show i paid $6. So AK rounds are still reasonable if you can find them. Even bulk boxes of .22s for going for $50, where before they were $25. Helping the economy, thats for sure. Quote

woodystylez Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 A dealer is going to bend you over by about 60%. Going to a dealer might be a good idea. He will say, "These guns might get banned soon, I'm not sure I want it" yada yada. I would suggest to get rid of it soon if you aren't scared to death you will need it. The market is perfect right now. Sell it while everyone is scared, that's what gun shops are doing. Quote
