Super User Root beer Posted January 20, 2013 Super User Posted January 20, 2013 This may seem like a dumb question.. I installed an old hunting computer game that was made in 2004 that runs on XP or earlier operation systems, is there a software somewhere on the web that I can get it to run on Window 7? I went to open the game and it will not run, then I had a brain fart that it could be the OS compatibility preventing it to run. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 20, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 20, 2013 I forgot, when the game fail it shows this log: LOG file "Game.LOG" created in 01/20/13 16:41:43-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-ASPEN Engine v4.5 (RELEASE)[DEBUG] Using application explicit settings data.Pentium IV processor detected...WinNT/2k/XP detected...=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- LOG file finished in 01/20/13 16:41:46=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Can anyone interpret this? Super User Felix77 Posted January 20, 2013 Super User Posted January 20, 2013 It simply was not made for that OS. Windows 7 does have the ability to run XP software but you have to have some fun with your PC to do this. See below. Good luck. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/windows-xp-mode Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 20, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 20, 2013 Thanks. I will fool around with the link tomorrow if I get a chance. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 There is a difference between win 7 32 and 64 bit, bet you have 64 bit and that's why. I have had identical issues. Quote

X2 Windows 7 and 8 are junk for older programs, windows 8 especially, it's gonna take some time to get everything compatible, in the automotive industry we are having a terrible time with software, everything is moving forward and the software for older vehicles are giving us fits right now. It's effecting everything from downloads to shipping, I think it may end up forcing everyone to update to newer equipment and software but at some point in time it has to be made adaptable to older software. Hyrule Bass Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 try right clicking on the program icon and selecting i believe its "Run as Administrator". sometimes that works with older software, sometimes it doesnt... Quote
