So I have been bit by the technique specific bug and am now to the froggin set up. Just wanting to get some opinions on what people like for frogs. Been really eyeballing the powell frog rod at TW. Maybe some folks who have owned one can chime is as well. Going to pair this up with a quantum energy 7:1:1 I bought off fleabay thats going to DVT for a once over.

You  do not need that heavy of a frogging rod unless you are in some crazy thick stuff. I like using a dobyns 735c because it has the length but also the extra fast tip that is good for frogs. Trust me if you get that rod you will fall in love with it and never look back.

I was wondering about that power for frogs. I don't have a whole lot of areas where the vegitation is extreme, mostly moderate at it's worst.

Then dont get the powell your better off with the dobyns.

I bought a MH/XF Powell Diesel. I haven't fished it yet, but I do like the feel so far. I don't own any rods over MH

I use a Mojo 7' MH/F and fish very thick super dense slop. It works perfectly and casts great.

I have used a variety of rods in the past....

First frog rod was a Shimano Voltaeus 7'0" MH/XF casting rod ($39 from BPS).

Second frog rod was a St. Croix Mojo Bass Spinnerbait model 7'0" MH/F casting rod ($80 from DSG).

Third frog rod I still have and use in a pinch....a Shimano Clarus Worm-n-Jig model 7'2" MH/XF casting rod ($79 from BPS).

My new rod I'm trying out is a 6'6" Daiwa Procyon in MH/XF (on clearance from GTSG for $44)

If you are diligent enough, you can find a good rod in a price range that you can both afford and will be pleased with in the long run without having to break the bank or your wallet.

I bought a Powell Diesel (7'2" MH/XF) last year for my froggin rod. Absolutely LOVE it! Great rod for the money IMO!

I use a Powell 735C. It's a fantastic frog rod, I use it for plenty of other techniques as well, but it's main duty is froggin! I fish everything from Gambler Cane Toads to Spro Bronze Eye's, and it just gets the job done. In fact I've been so happy with it that I bought 4 more Powell rods to go with it. It was my first Powell and now they've become the rods I fish with the most.

I may be the minority here but 7'-7'6 H fast action rod is the perfect frogging setup. Here in MN, you can't leave home without one :)
