Spinnerbait color selection

Hey guys need some tips on what color spinnerbaits I should get. I'm getting a guy to make me some custom spinnerbaits and I was hoping for some quality info from my fellow bass fishermen. Anyways I want to have some spinnerbaits to fish in all types of lakes.  My local lake has about 3 smaller lakes or ponds if you prefer to call them that.  The first 2 ponds are light stained to really stained water, I mean you can't see anything sometimes.  As for the last lake, it's ultra clear.  Anyways I would like to know what colors are effective, as well as blade combinations, and spinnerbait sizes. I would appreciate any inputs guys. Thanks in advance.

id buy white (all-around color), white/chart, black (night or muddy water), natural (shad)

i usually use silver blades if its sunny/clear, painted or bronze in lower light/visibility.

wider blades will cause more vibration. good for stained>muddy water.

do a search. theres tons of info on spinnerbaits. what works one day might not work the next.

Yea this was what types of spinnerbaits I wanted to get custom made.  I wanted to get a few white, white/chartruese, bluegill pattern, and some colors for off-colored water.  As for the blades, I was thinking about double willows, tandem blades, and some single willows, and single colorado blades.  I probably got the clear water situation down, but what about the off-colored water?

I like to fish a Chartruse/white, but with more chartruse than white with a big single gold colorado blade for muddy water.

When I fish off colored water I prefer a double colorado blade..................Al

I like combinations of white, black, grey, and silver in the skirt.

For the blades I usually like to have a silver willow and a gold colorado.

I like to use double Colorado in both silver and gold. It gives good vibration and flash. For off colors, you just need to change the color of the skirt to darker colors.

yea Roadwarrior I've watched that movie dozens of time.  That's the reason I got into that lumaflex skirt thing, but now I'm trying to get some custom made ones.  Also here's another question, what size spinnerbaits are you guys using?  I used 3/4oz most of the time, but I think it's too heavy on me.  I'm thinking about downsizing.  Any more suggestions?

Well, most guys use several sizes. Personally,

I prefer 3/4 oz, but also throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz

spinnerbaits. Try some other sizes and see what

works.

Chartreuse/White, Chartreuse/Red, Chartreuse, White, and Black

I mainly throw 1/2oz Chart/white with tandem willowleaf 1 gold and 1 silver but if the water is dirty will go to a double Colorado blade in gold with a black skirt or chartruese skirt with painted blades

I go with Chart/White pretty much always.  Last year a buddy was telling me how his gold shiner colored bait caught more numbers but the chart/white caught bigger fish.  We went out and he caught a bunch of fish around 2lbs but I caught only one, 6lber, he was right!  I do have luck with the gold shiner color as well, and white, white/blue.

For those lakes, I find that either a shad, or chart/white with double gold willows works best about 95% of the time. 1 thing worth noting is, I have never caught a fish on a spinner bait there with silver blades, nor have i got any fish with a spinner bait that didn't have at least the main blade being a willow in gold of course.

As for the gill colors, they work there, I have caught fish on a gill pattern chatterbait, so my guess is a spinner bait of that color should work also.

BTW, if your flipping in the north lake, a White jig, with a mud color 4:20 sweetbeaver trailer works well..just get it in the tullies..

i try to imitate fish forage , i like good bluegill colors and shad colors (silver and white patterns ) .

To me, spinnerbaits in clear to lightly stained are a mystery.  I have lots of different colors and lots of different styles and some days they work and some days they don't.  The past few years, I've had issues trying to get any consistent results using spinnerbaits in clear to lightly stained water.

Over the past 5 years, I've had more consistent spinner bait success in very stained to muddy water.  I like a "thumper", a 1/2 or 3/4 oz bait with a larger single colorado blade.
