Berkley Lightning Rod?

Hello everyone, I was thinking of getting this rod for my 11 year old cousin, anyone ever have this rod?

I have the Berkeley lightning shock 7' mh. I would have loved to have such a nice rod at 11yrs old. Very good for how much they cost.

Good rods. When I was growing up that's all my dad used was classic lightning rods on a Abu Garcia Ambassador. I have and older one myself and a lightning rod shock both are good rods for the money.

Your cousin will be plenty happy with that. Heck you might even end up with a few after you try it out. I've owned about 4-5 lightning rods in spinning and one shock casting rod. Never had any problems with any of them ever. There's quite a few people that use them on here.

I still use an older lightening rod as one of my setups. I have caught countless fish on it and its still in one piece.

I recently just sold off the last of my Shock rods. They are amazing, but I cant stand cork. I still have an old Lightning spinning rod that is from 94 that I currently still use.

I fished jigs on the new lightning rod 7mh with fluro and was really surprised at the sensitivity the rod had for 40.00.I would have no problems fishing this rod as my every day jig and worm rod.

I still have mine. I recently switched over to all Veritas rods. That said, I can't part with my Shock rod. I love the trigger, balance and the split grip.

My biggest complaint is the guides. When running braid it sounds like a saw blade coming through them. My hook keeper busted after two trips but, for the money it can't be beat.

Lightning rods and ugly sticks are excellent starter rods.  I purchased a Lightning shock for one of my Sahara reels.  I have been very impressed.

I'd agree, but would give a big edge to the Shock in sensitivity.

Briefly had a Shock, liked it but upgraded to the Shimano Compre.

Still have my Ugly Stik Lites. Great rods for float fishing, beginners, or heck, really anyone who likes them.
