7 In. Senko's?

I do fish the 4 & 5 in.Senko alot.But gander MTN. had the 7 in.! Have any of you fished the big 7 in.?

My all time favorite big bass lure. Texas rigged and tossed where you know a big girl resides will get you bit. Expensive, but worth every penny.

They definitely work, and not just with lunkers, I've caught plenty of 2-4lb bass with the 7" Senko. Just make sure you have the right size hook to match. I go with a 5/0 when fishing the 7" Senko

I've caught bass down to 12 to 14 inches on them so there's no worry about the size being too large.  Try the BPS brand of 7" stick bait if you get a chance.   In the 5" I still like the original senko best but in 7" I have better luck on the BPS.  Cheaper too.

I have, but I have not consistantly caught any more or bigger fish on them than I do with 5 or 6 inch senkos. I don't bother with them any more. Most of my "big" fish caught on senkos (5-6 lbs around here) have been on the 5", with a few on the 6", and a few on the 4".  When I am senko fishing, I typicaly stick with the 5", if the senko bite is good and I am looking for a bigger bite I go to the 6", if the bite is slow I go the other way, down to the 4" or even the 3", or fish another bait/presentation alltogether.

I prefer fishing weightless soft plastics on spinning tackle and the 7" version is too big for my gear.

Over the years this bait has never produced bigger bass for me. I don't fish a Senko as much as I

use to, but when I do it's usually the 6" bait. Also, I'm old school and fish them on a traditional T-rig,

weightless, but not wacky.

The times I've used 7'' senkos they produce fewer but larger bass. That's my experience.

Ive used them on carolina rigs and for pitching weightless but i havent noticed bigger fish. I know i geet more bites off of the 5 or the 3" lures. The 7" is a very situational bait for me, ill use them in early fall when the shad are running hard. Its not uncommon for us to see 6 or 7 inch shad in the fall. So thats when i like to pitch and crig the big ones. But i am not abkle to call it a big fish bait

I like the bigger senkos, they don't seem to limit you to only bigger fish as others have reported.  I've had dinks barely the size of the senko get bit.  I like the yamamoto and the bps stik-o i think they are called have also worked just as well for me.  I'm eyeing some 9 inch ones I've seen online.

 

They also have the benefit of casting farther as mentioned above which helps me as a bank fisher get to some spots I can't reach by foot.  I primarily fish them wacky but also t-rig occasionally.

I like to fish the 7" Bass Pro version on a T-rig with a 1/4oz weight and 5/0 hook. It's a great big fish bait o pitch into heavy cover because it has no appendages to hang up as it falls through the cover. The weight isn't for casting but to make the bait fall through the cover nose down so it doesn't land and rest on something before reaching the bottom.

How do you rig you're senkos?

Oh..........about a 100 different ways. Wacky, both with and with out weight, T-rigged, both with and with out weight. Also on drop shots, shaky heads, as jig trailers, and more. I don't think there is a way (known to me) that I have not rigged them and caught fish. It's just a tool......a very versatile tool.

X2, as well as occasional split shot rig.

Although I should say I don't fish the 7" model.... I'm curious to try a bag some day, but the 4" and 5" are quite productive for me.

You haven't lived until you've tossed a wacky rigged 10 inch "senko". Dead serious. Take the 5" senko's "rock and roll" & turn the volume up to 11! The sway/roll literally covers a 2.5-3' column of water. Great for stained shallow water on pressured water.
