jettech Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Im watching KVD on you tube. Hes cranking away on this spinner bait. He then says he fishing this slow. If this is slow then I fish like the dead. Start at about 7:30. he says it at 8:00. Is that really slow? Quote
RyneB Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 He is probably the fastest fisherman on planet Earth. His slow is faster then we can fish fast. It helps him that he is a robot and not really human. I forgot who the pro was that fished with him, but he said he tried to keep up with KVDs pace, and he was dead tired after an hour. Hes just on another level. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I really don't know if he thinks about what he is saying. Multiple times i have heard him say this is a giant fish when in fact its a 1 lb er Just thought of that when he brought this up Quote
FishnBen Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I was going to say the exact same thing as RyneB. He is THEE fastest fisherman on this planet. And no he is not human. No one can keep up with him. Something I find very interesting, is that personally....I consider the best 3 fisherman in the world KVD, Skeet Reese, and Mike Iaconelli. (JUST MY OPINION, PLEASE DON'T SCALD ME ) I would probably say KVD is on the top of that list and the other two are interchangable. I know lots of people might hate one or more of those guys, but in my opinion, on a tournament on any random lake in the country, I would PERSONALLY say those 3 would most consistently be on top. ANYWAY, what I find interesting, is that those three guys are very HIGH key, and Ike even talked about how bad his ADHD has been his entire life. I have also heard KVD talk about how he's the same way, and how it's the reason he's always been running n' gunning because he hasn't been able to sit still his entire life. Skeet is the same way. And while all 3 of these guys are also great because they have unmatched instinctiveness, persistence and versitility, I find it interesting that it seems like this "ADD or ADHD" that has been encoded in their gentics helps them out tremendously in a sport that you always hear people say that you have to be "patient" to be successful at. EastTexasBassin Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I just bought and watched one of his spinnerbait videos, and he mentions a few times that MOST anglers fish their spinnerbaits WAY TOO SLOW. He burns the crap of them, and often switches to smaller blades to do this. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 23, 2010 Super User Posted March 23, 2010 I think what he's talking about is the overall horizontal (forward) speed. If you watch again he's pausing a lot -probably half his retrieve is pauses, -along with tugs to dart, flare, and flash that SB (triggers). Forward speed is critical, and has to be ferreted out over the course of the day. Speed is also relative in his mind. Remember, that vid was shot in the warm season -he's not talking slow-rolling there. The differences over the course of an entire year, are large. But over the course of a given season, or day, can appear slight, but they can make all the difference. Kevin's SB is covering water, but it's not all that fast compared to what a bass is capable of in warm water. But bass can't afford to go all out every day, all day. Kevin, on that bluebird day, has slowed things down bc the bass are not chasing. I'm sure he'd rather be burnin' it. But the bass are not willing to chase. Quote
b.Lee Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I complete agree with the above statement by paul Quote
SWH Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I agree with the rest of you guys he is just not human but if you listen to the announcer carefully at the 7:27-7:32 mark he says "a wispy rod and slow retreiver reel have no place in kevins boat today" So he is not trying to fish slow at all. Quote
