Silas Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Here's how you do it as I did just today. Called a friend and said we should get together and see each other.....will meet you at Bass Pro for lunch. Have lunch at the Islamorada Restaurant (order their Mahi Mahi burger.....great! Ask for the fresh baked bread, it's hot and wonderful. Top it off with a brew! Then, tell your friend it was nice seeing them, watch them leave, as you turn around on a full stomach and a brew, and "browse" to your delight. Later, if you "significant other" asks how it went, say, "had a great visit!! We'll do it again soon! But......leave the stuff you got in the trunk to take out tomorrow! You guys been "finnesse fishing" before haven't you? Same principle!! Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 18, 2013 Super User Posted January 18, 2013 The Charlotte BPS is a B-I-G store. One of the largest in the chain. I would give myself at least two hours, maybe three, depending on how fast you want to walk the store and play with the goodies. BPS will be having their annual sale so you can recon what you want and where it is located so you can find it when you return for their spring sale. Have fun and if possible, get a photo of you in front of the store. Bring lots of money! The Bait Monkey will be riding shotgun with you. Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 18, 2013 Super User Posted January 18, 2013 Sam when does their sale start and end or has it started? Not that my wife thinks i need to spend anymore other than fuel for the boat. Quote

It's not huge it my opinion but I haven't been to other bass pro so it may be huge compared to those. Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 18, 2013 Super User Posted January 18, 2013 Thanks gripnrip for the update. I knew it was in February but did not want to mislead Teal. So mark your calendars for February 22nd. And double check your individual BPS store to confirm the date. The Bait Monkey loves you. Quote

Dinky Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 A little advice for your first visit jnatale3--(don't ask how I know these things.) 1. Always take a list of a couple things you really need to buy. If you go w/o one you can quickly turn into an impulse buyer--which is the gateway to fishing tackle addiction (FTA) for which there is no known cure. Interventions by spouses followed by several months in a 12 step re-hab program for FTA is expensive and humiliating. 2. For 'mature' shoppers who tend to use the bathroom on a frequent basis: Do not drink a lot of liquids prior to going there-coffee, soda, etc. unless you are very familiar with that particular BPS and know EXACTLY where the Men's Room is located. Wandering around in pain in several thousand square feet of retail space for any length of time turns to panic and all sorts of bad scenarios. 3. Wear sunglasses in the store: shiney, sparkley, colorful things tend to attract (lure) us fishermen.Too many of them leads to confusion which leads to buying one of every color. Very expensive. 4. Go ahead and get the BPS Visa while you are there as long as you can handle the temptation to max it out. You will get an extra 10% off on the day you sign up--plus--if you are married you can use it for secret purchases you don't want her to know about. You know...like gifts for her. LOL. Have fun! 5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 My friend and I enjoyed it. We spent 4 hours in there and ate lunch at their restraunt they had. Food was pretty good. A little over 2 hours each way to drive there. Once the one here in Cary NC gets done, it will be about a 15 minute drive. :-) Quote
PotomacBassin Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 You said you were going to shop for two hours before lunch.... If you're anything like me when you go in there.... what seems like 2 hours will actually be 4.5 hours so make sure you bring a watch. Time flies. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 2 hours then lunch then 2 more hours. Lol Quote
