Gamec0cks5 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I have about 3 chatterbaits that I have picked up over the last couple of years and haven't used them a whole lot. I've caught maybe 2-3 fish on them. Do y'all like em? I am particularlly using the Z-Man ones but I know other manufacturers are making them too. Quote
Revo_Carrot Stix Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I've had good luck with Zman and SK Pure Poison. I'll use them in murky/stained water the same way I'd use a spinnerbait - with slow steady retrieve or stop n go. I have a lot of colors, but Chartreuse/White seem to work best for me. I like Zman ChatterFrog too. It stays up toward the surface and is a lot of fun. Quote
Gamec0cks5 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Yeah I have a black/blue pure poison too, I just need to have more confidence in them I think and just use them Quote
angler1 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I use the Zman in black/blue with great sucess. I have also had sucess with many other colors as well. I use a chatterbait almost every time I am fishing. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 They are OK. I have caught many pond fish on them, followed by river fish. Not too much luck with the Chatterbait on lakes. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 I haven't had much success with them, however I will say, when they hit a chatterbait, they hit it like a freight train. Falcon Quote
MSPbass Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I see a lot of fish follow chatterbaits but, like Maltese said, when they hit they get hit hard. Bass seem to get mad at them more than anything. I think they're fun to fish. But that's what I'm into; not tournament money or anything. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 Great prespawn bait. Quote
Gangley Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I'm having a great deal of luck right now with a KaRu Vibrashock. However, I never know they hit until i feel the vibration stop. If it wasnt for the vibration, I probably would miss half the fish I have caught. Quote
Gamec0cks5 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 I just picked up about 5 of them for a dollar a piece on sale so I was just curious I will keep fishing them you never know Quote
Big Bass Chaser Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 They are a great bait to slow roll for females staging about to spawn. If you're not going to snag up too much, you can fish them like a fast football head jig too. Quote
Triton21 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Be sure to ck the sharpness of the hook. I have found several dull out of the box. Kelley Quote
kikstand454 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 ive had some good bites fishing a white shad colored pure poison like a trap- over weeds and jerking it free. Quote
