Super User Dan: Posted March 21, 2010 Super User Posted March 21, 2010 Anyone have opinions on Mann's GO 2 Series, Strike King Series 6, SK Series 6XD, or Bomber Fat Free Shad (BD-7)? I'm basically looking for any advice related to quality, running depths, and durability. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I would add Luhr Jensens to your list... Quote
lsufan334 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I am a fan of the Strike King Series 6 and the Bomber Fat Free. Both have great quality, depth, and durability. Deff. wont go wrong with those two choices. The Norman Series of deep divers are great too (dd-17 dd-22) Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 21, 2010 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2010 I would add Luhr Jensens to your list... I'm just worried about some of the stuff I've heard about banging them against rocks and the narrow lip breaking off. Although the deeper ones look like they are quite a bit thicker. Someone convince me they don't have breakage problems! As for the Normans, the only two I've owned have run crooked so I'm not super happy with them. Quote

Kelley yes, I know how, my fingers just aren't strong enough to bend the d#*n metal! ... ;D I just don't want to buy a whole box of cranks and have to tune each of them...it's a quality issue for me. Super User Dan: Posted March 22, 2010 Author Super User Posted March 22, 2010 :-? yeah, thanks. Anyone else? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 I bought a few of the Manns Go2 series when they first hit the market. The paint was horrible, the hooks bad. The paint on both baits ended up cracking in several spots after being fished for one night and put back into a box. I wouldn't highly recommend them. SK Series 6 is right in line with their other cranks. Just doesn't run deep enough for me. Have some 6XD's on order, won't get a chance to use them until June or July. The deep FFS are decent baits. Don't have a lot of them. Others for you to look at would be the Norman DD22 (I've got three boxes of them, have had to tune two or three of them), Bagley DB3 and the Luhr Jensen 3/4 oz. Hot Lips (if they can take the rocks I crank, they can take anything. The Hot Lips are the deepest cranks around. They will hit 20' on 8 lb. CXX. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 22, 2010 Author Super User Posted March 22, 2010 good to know. I'm glad you mentioned the Go2 series. I was leaning towards them. Those "Crystal Threadfin" and "LA Shad" colors were really tempting. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 Hopefully my experience was just due to poor QC related to initial production rush. That said, I won't buy anymore of them. If I can find them, I'll take a couple of photos of the paint. Quote
CJ Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Bomber Fat Free Shad and Rapala DT16 and DT20's are probably what I throw the most. Both are great crankbaits. I here Strike King has some new ones out that are supposed to be good but I haven't tried them yet. The Series 6 isn't as good as the Bomber in my opinion. It doesn't get down enough. If I' fishing less than 12 ft., I like Bagley's deep diver. Quote
