Iv been following it on a few other forums and sources it's true plus the local Walmart here in town confirmed also when I asked when they would get more 17hmr ammo in stock.

I read an article that basically said stores won't be ordering ammo individually but due to the high demand and low supply due to everyone being fearful of their guns and ammo being taken away, orders will be done by the corporate offices.

LMAO....it's on the internet, so it must be true.  Who cares?  You shouldn't give Wallie any of your money anyway.  Find a local gun shop.

I stoped at 3 gun shops today looking for ammo for my 17hmr and my 243 all were sold out but 2 one the closest most local one wanted $27 a box of 50 for 17hmr ammo!!!!!! That's about $12-15 to much I can order it online for 11-13 a box. One shop was completely sold out the other HAD 4 boxes left and at $15.50 I thought I was gonna get a speeding ticket on my way out to the shop lol I now have them 4 boxes and with the 17 that's 200rnds so 200 dead critters if I don't paper punch with any of it.

.243 was gone every where but 1 box of 100gr federals but I shoot 58gr superformance out of mine.

.22lr, 223/556, 308/762, 9mm were all sold out everywhere with a big sign at the last shop I got my HMR ammo at that said even the warehouses were empty. I asked about ordering a CZ 527 in 17 rem a gun in affected by any of the bans and I was told ALL warehouses are empty couldent even order it and be on a waiting list. Same story at all 3 shops all told me they can't even order me that CZ all the way down to a single shot cricket 22 for my son.

That's funny. I can get .17HMR, .243, and .270 just about anywhere around here, but that's about all that's left on the shelves.

I think I'm all set on .223/5.56 and 9mm for a while, but I'd like to get my hands on a few more boxes of .308

Yeah not here that's why I like the calibers I shoot there not really high demand. The shop owners did say they had it this morning but with lastnight vote everything sold soon as doors opened. I'll be up and reloading within a month iv got about 200pcs of once fired .243 brass plus about 700pcs of 223/556 iv acquired over years iv got a few people who are out and want some ammo.

This is a personal political comment, so I won't give my personal opinion on this subject.  Of the polling I've seen so far a majority of the population is in favor of reforms of certain types of weaponry.  I have read nothing that indicates sportsmen, hunters and personal defense would be affected.  These measure are for the "James Yaeger's" not responsible gun owners and mentally competent men and women.

the problem is any "reforms" they do only effects responsible gun owners, criminals will get theirs no matter what, I am all for no extended mags, no ballistic vests, no riot gear, make them all class 3 as far as I am concerned, but the criminals already have em, our gov't gave thousands of "assault" weapons to the cartels for cripes sake, and you are going to entrust them to make us "safe" ? No thank you.

I don't disagree that criminals will find a way, but if weapons were kept from just 1 bad person that could save many lives, that in itself is worth it.  Not being political but stating a fact, not 1 piece of anti gun legislation was introduced by the Obama administration in it's first term.  Only until the recent rash of horrific shootings are we now seeing people getting outraged, the administration and some states are reacting to the wishes of the majority of the people.  I've seen where something like 74% of NRA members favor some of these reforms.

I see nothing being introduced that would curtail a responsible, mentally stable person from defending themselves, hunting or shooting as a sport.  It's all about keeping weapons out of the hands of wack jobs, I seriously doubt legislation is going to all that much good but it's step in the right direction.

we don't need NEW gun laws, we need to start enforcing the laws we already have. until we enforce what we already have nothing will change and we will not know what works or doesn't.

Glenn I am sorry for my comments, as should not have made them per the forum rules.

I will also say, I actually was surprised to see the comments. Even more surprised to see another mod in this thread, quote one and "egg it on". Didn't seemed "called down the middle" in my opinion.

thanks for the best board out there!

Brian, mods are human, too.  I know I've been experiencing some difficulty separating my bias from my moderator duty.  Thankfully, Glenn and the rest of the team can work together to keep the forum on track.

J Francho........ I want you to know, even though I called you out, I meant no disrespect.  I honestly figured I guess we are good to go here until someone gets hateful. Which I did on my comments that I quoted/responded to, and I am sorry for that ( biting my tongue is not a talent of mine)

to be human is to err as they say.

Again, I don't want you to think I hold ill will towards you and I hope you don't me.

I will say that i was hoping this whole walmart thing wasnt true. I went to my local walmart and all they had was deer/hunting rifle rounds. No 308s,no223, and only two lonely little boxes of. 380. It was late in the evening and i wasnt able to speak woth the sporting goods attendaant.

It's my understanding that the Walmart stores don't order their ammo (or anything else, really), it's all done automatically by their computers. I believe the stores have had the ability to special order items, but they can no longer special ammo because their distribution centers don't have much (if any) in stock and can't predict when more will arrive.

The stores are still receiving ammo, they just don't have any say in which calibers or quantity they get. I was at my local WM a couple days ago when they were unboxing their most recent ammo shipment (the first one they've gotten this year), and it was just few boxes of 9mm, a couple boxes of .38, a single box of .45ACP, several boxes of .380, a half case of 7.62x39, and ~16 (225rd) boxes of .22LR.

There's no big conspiracy going on. Demand is exceeding supply, and that's the reason for the empty shelves. When/if ammo does make it on the shelves, people are buying all of it because they don't know when they'll be able to get more....or they're buying up just to resell it on gun forums at ridiculous prices.

Was just able to purchase the only two boxes of Remington 223 55 grain that my local Walmart got in last night. According to the sporting goods manager, they are still ordering, but that the manufacturers are so low on supply that they get no notice of what they are getting or when they are getting it. He said it is solely a supply and demand issue. Doesn't hurt to be extra nice to them so that you can find out when truck deliveries usually show up :-)
