Recommendation For Flourocarbon Line

I am looking for the most flexible flourocarbon line. I have been using Berkely Vanish on both spinning and baitcasters but am frustrated with line pouring off the reel. Any suggestions?

Seaguar Invisx is the best and is reasonably priced.

 

I started with Vanish, moved to Berkley 100% FC and then found Seaguar after much of the same frustrations you described.

 

You need to also consider how you are loading up your reel and in the case of the baitcaster make sure you are setting the tension properly.

I like BPS flouro and I like Seaguar abrazx on baitcasters. I'm using 12# for my casting reels.I too use KVD line and lure. When it comes to both your reels what pound type are you using on both?

KVD line dressing is applied hours before using the reel each trip and I haven't had good results with it.

I use a product called TangleFree, it comes in a 2 oz squeeze bottle that fits in your pocket and can be applied during the use of the reel and keeps FC line wetted and helps to reduce line memory, staying on the spinning reel spool and bait casting reels.

Berkley Vanish was one of the early FC lines and had several problems prompting the introduction of 100% FC. I don't like Berkely's FC line because the diameter is one size larger; 12lb is labeled 10 lb so anglers think it's strong line and this is common with FC line. Sunline doesn't miss label their line, however it's expensive!

Hybrids are are a good compromise and P-line FluoroClear is a good hybrid line.

Make sure the spinning reel spool isn't overfilled; should be about 1/8" below the rim.

Pretty close except I am using #15 on my bait caster.  I am a believer in the Seaguar.  I used to you Vanish, but made the switch last year when I went through 2 spools of Vanish in 2 days due to breakage.  Haven't had that problem sense I went to Seaguar.

Sniper 8, 12, 16lbs. NEVER had an issue. Spray kvd on as you wind it on and you're good to go.

By most flexible I am assuming you are wondering which has the best handling. Seaguar invizx wins that vote for me and handles better than the 2 spools of sunline sniper that I have. Sniper is a better all around line imho though. Vanish is a horrid FC line and there are far better choices.

Also seaguar tatsu has extremely good handling while also being great in many other aspects. This would be my choice if you are looking for a very good handling line that also is tough, abrasion resistant and sensitive.

As others have mentioned kvd l&l will do wonders to make FC more manageable. Good luck!

Same here. As an all around line I feel it is much better by my standards.. It is more sensitive than invizx and more abrasion resistant as well while not being overly stiff and unmanageable. Invizx is stretchy but handles VERY well. That's its strongpoint imho.

They had a buy 1 get 1 on sniper and at that price I would rate it by far the best price to performance fluorocarbon available.

For casting gear I would say 12# or 15# would be about right. I am a fan of invisix, abrisix, and sniper. Invisix will have a bit more stretch and is very manageable on casting gear even without line and lure conditioner, but it doesn't hurt.

For spinning I really only use 8# for 90% of what I am fishing with on spinning rigs. Again sniper and invisix are two very good options here. Line and lure is a must. Also make sure close the bail manually instead of engaging the handle. In addition, pay attention to your line throughout the day.

On a side note make sure you spool the line on properly and avoid over filling the spool. These suggestions should help reduce the amount line twist and any line jumping off the reel. When I started paying attention to the above I had little to no issues and very enjoyable days on the water.

Before you switch lines totally, buy some KVD and treat your line.

 

KVD made the cheapest FC line (Viscous) a joy to use.

Only fluro I've used is abrazx and I really like it but its kind of stretchy.

I'm not a big fan of flourocarbon, but I do have one spinning and one B/C spooled with 10lb. Vicious. I use both for clear water and finess applications. I have found that using a line conditioner frequently makes a big difference in manageability of the line although I don't have as much of a problem with it on the baitcaster.  I've used both KVD and ReelMagic with good results.  I also romoved about 20yrds. of line from the spinning reel and that seemed to help too.

I like the yo-zuri hybrid in either #10 or #12 for baitcasting applications and yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft in #6 for spinning gear.

 

I use trilene big game mono for topwater applications.

I'm also a fan of Sunline Sniper. Their Super is pretty good as well at 10$ cheaper per spool, but it is stiffer and harder to cast.
