Shotty Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I've got a Johnson Beetle Spin w/rattle. The issue is that the spinner is underneath the body and hook so I'm getting hits and no hooks. I had another beetle spin that wasn't a rattle and the spinner was on top, so I'm assuming this new one is wrong. Frustrating, to say the least. I think the problem is that the head is hollow, considering the rattle part, and floating, therefore keeping the whole rig upside down. I'm wondering if there is an easy way to fix this. I'm awfully new to fishing so my terminology is crap. Simple, descriptive terms and tips would be great, but any help is much appreciated. Thanks Quote
TommyBass Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Not exactly sure what your talking about. But.... most beetle spin blades are attached to a wire which attaches to the jig head portion. Every beetle spin I've seen has a wire with a clip that is removable. If that is the case, unclip the wire, flip your jig head over, and reclip it. If I understand you correctly that would solve your problem, but I can't see it causing alot of missed fish. Quote
Shotty Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 The problem is that when I retrieve the lure, instead of the spinner being above the beetle, it is beneath. It's just upside down because the head of the beetle is floating. The beetle is on the clip the right way, but the whole rig is flipped the wrong way. I just need a way to weigh down the beetle so it sinks underneath the spinning blade and arm so the clip is underneath the rig and not on top. I hope that clarifies and so I can get some help. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 21, 2010 Super User Posted March 21, 2010 well thats just crappy design! you could try smashing some lead solder or airgun pellets so they're nice and flat and epoxying them to the bottom of the jighead for some ballast. i don't even see the point of having a rattling head on a beetle spin, they don't wobble so it wouldn't rattle much...
