Owner Twist Lock Hooks?

Just picked up a pack of these to use with my senkos. Has anyone used them? I need a better hook for fishing my senkos and skipping them under docks, I go through alot of them due to them ripping at the head when I Texas rig them. I hope this will help somewhat!

Did you get the ones for Senkos developed by Yamamoto?  If so they are awesome hooks.

I use those on my buzz frogs and they work pretty well. I can catch several fish on one frog which is good since they cost almost a buck a piece.

One piece of advice shared with me by a bellow BR member is to use a lighter to heat up the tip of the soft plastic.  This will make it easier for the keeper pin to go in and it helps the plastic to hold better as well.  I will pass on one experiece I have had with them and why I do not use them anymore.  On some soft plastic frogs, aggressive strikes can lead to the keeper pins tearing or ripping out the head of the frog.  I found a slight modification from an old print article in Outdoor Life or F&S some time ago that helps reduce the chances of this occuring.  You can see how to do it here:

I've not used the Owner hooks but have used Trokars. I like the spring screw  holders. I had the same problem as you. These seemed to have solved most of those issues. Owner makes a centering pin spring. I tried those but found out that they're only applicalble on flat eye hooks. I will occasionally add a drop of super glue to the holder as well to keep the heads from tearing.................good luck

I love Owner Twistlock hooks, use them all the time for many different things. I've had that happen to me as well when frog fishing but to me it isn't that big a deal. I use these hooks because they have a very good hooking percentage for me and they keep the bait nice and straight while it's being fished through the grass or brush. I don't have to adjust it after every cast or I don't have wasted casts because of the frog balling up.

 

One thing I did do that helped cut down on the one fish one bait problem was I removed the centering pin that comes on the hooks and went up to the biggest size centering pin. The bigger pin gets more plastic inside it so it takes more force to pull it out. Give it a try, it really does work.

I can say from personal experience that in general that helps, but when using certain smaller diameter plastics, the larger Owner keepers with the centering pins actually increased the tearing of the noses (ie: Stanley Ribbits or ZOOM Flukes). That's why I use the ADL 4/0 swimbait hooks with the small keeper pins.

Hanover_Yakker, thanks for the heads up on the larger CPS. I've not had this experience as of yet while using them, the only bait I've tried both the medium and large sizes with that it didn't help was a Gambler Cane Toad. These are my absolute favorite toad baits so I use a ton of them, I was looking for a way to extend their life beyond the usual one fish one bait problem. It doesn't seem to matter which spring I use I can't get more than two fish out of them. It's ok with me though because I love these hooks for the reasons I described in my first post and have zero plans to switch hooks. I've just had way to much success with these hooks to change, I can't remember the last fish that bit one of these hooks that I failed to get a solid hookset on and get them in the boat. The 5/0 fits the Cane Toad perfectly.

 

I'll just have to live with going through Cane Toads . One toad bait that I do find to be very durable with the large size CPS is the Strike King Rage Toad. I get multiple fish on one of these baits usually, although they don't seem to draw quite as many strikes for me as the Cane Toads.
