bocabasser Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 A couple of years ago the water was extremely high in the Everglades and I had a tourny at a place called the holey lands. My partner and I were working this ledge when we heard what sounded like a child crying. To our absolute amazement, we saw a female panther with 2 kittens. We watched them in awe for 30 minutes. I have seen several people making woopie, dead boar floating in the water, pythons, bobcats, deer, homeless people etc. nothing will ever top those Florida panthers. Quote

I'm no crime fighter, I just had a couple things happen in life, one I thought was funny, one not so funny, it's however odd that both were simular and performed by females.   Ill save all my cop stories for the M&G..  we have a couple of law enfocement officers that will be interested in hearing them. Quote

I come from Western Australia, 5 sharks have killed people here in the last year. here is some stores from my mates and I: Â My mate was walking past the river and saw some people feeding ducks...30seconds later a bullshark jumps out and eats a duck Kayak fishing and my mate had a shark jump next to him... this is 8km+ up a river! I snapped my first rod casting a massive lure at an estimated 50lb bullshark in my local river... 20cm lures and 1-3kg rods don't mix... Â Regards, Tom Quote

Super User Shane J Posted January 16, 2013 Super User Posted January 16, 2013 A few years ago I was fishing a 20 acre strip mine lake from my jon boat. Hardly anybody fishes this place, because it is so hard to get a boat into, and there's no launch, plus it's just a very deep bowl- shaped lake. The place is basically a well secluded party and swimming spot for kids. The trail leading up to it is very narrow, and goes uphill, then has a long steep downhill. Well, it was getting dark, so I was about to wrap it up, and start the tough trek out of the woods, when I heard this loud, crashing noise from the trail that sounded like a charging moose. Just as I was focused on the trail, a car comes flying down, and crashes into the water 100 feet from me. I didn't know what to do. I didn't see anyone in the car, and heard voices from the top of the trail, but they never came down. The car had floated out about 30 yards, and was going under fast. I called the cops, and had to do a report as to what I saw, then one of the officers helped me drag my boat back up the hill, because it was now pitch dark. He followed up with me a couple days later, and it turns out, that the car was used in a bank robbery earlier that day, and they were attempting to get rid of it. 3 Quote
Tom Walker Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Last Wild Thing: There is a few wrecks sunk about 35km from the Perth Metro Area in Australia. This place is packed with huge Sampson Fish and Amberjack, I am talking about quite a few taken over 50kg each year! the wild thing is all the sharks, no joke, 9/10 hookups come  back with just a head... and that is on a good day. A few people have tried catching the sharks, takes all ok 10 seconds at the most to hook a 4m+ Great White there... Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 16, 2013 Super User Posted January 16, 2013 Tom,  First of all welcome to the forum and we hope you enjoy it here !!  Talking about sharks eating a catch is something I had only seen in a video, a friend of mine went deep sea fishing somewhere off the coast of Australia, they were fishing for swordfish, my friend hooks into a nice fish, fights him for roughly 25 minutes, gets it close to the boat, I would say within a hundred yards, and all of a sudden you just saw this grey flash just break the surface and the line goes limp, sort of, he continues to reel in and all that was left of this 400lb fish was it's head, a clean single bite it looked like is all it took.  It was the coolest thing I think I have ever seen, but I also thought how odd it must be, evidently it however seems to be a common thing to have happen. 1 Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Bluebasser, exactly. I prefer not to tell those on the internet..lol besides some stories are best heard and not read. Â I cant begin to imagine if youre refering to those Halifax County cops down there. I grew up in Hollister, which youve probably heard of being from Roanoke Rapids. I grew up and went to school with some of them. If they know anything about you they will pull you over just to see if they can catch you doing wrong, even though you did nothing that warranted being pulled over at that time. I had a friend without a license and sometimes we would take his car out, but i would drive, that car was a cop magnet because of his past history. Luckily we were never(we never got caught) doing anything wrong at those times lol. I will say some of the cops in Weldon were pretty dumb though and leave it at that... Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 16, 2013 So... was that the wildest thing you have ever seen while fishing or hunting? If you want to ask personal questions, tell your back home stories and cast insults you can private message me. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 theres no need to get smart about my post. was just trying to "break the ice" with someone who is in an area im very familiar with. but whatever, ill just keep it moving, at this point there is no need to PM anything. Â as for wildest things seen while hunting or fishing, its basically a repeat thread that pops up now and again, many peoples stories have been told in other threads, go find them if thats what floats your boat... Super User Teal Posted January 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 16, 2013 Sorry bud i took a little bit of offense to it. I probably shouldnt have. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 its ok, i went off topic myself and i can see how that might bother some people. but there seriously are other threads with similar topics that have some great stories in them. try searching for things like weirdest things or funniest things youve seen on the water or dumbest thing youve done or seen someone else do while fishing, etc and youre bound to find them. there are some good stories relatable to this topic by people who may not have posted in this thread... Super User Teal Posted January 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 16, 2013 Thanks dude, next time you come back home. Hit me up and we can go down to Cle's stop and shop and get a burger and break the ice the right way. Heck, we can see if we can catch some on gaston or kerr. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Cleo's has kinda gone down hill since he lost his abc license at his warren county store, he dont even sell gas no more and half the shelves were empty last time i was there. i would recommend Lynchs right down the road for a good burger or some great BBQ though. but here i am getting off topic again lol sorry Quote
CayMar Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I'm kind of new to fishing so I don't have a plethora of wild stories. This story may seem mild to you fellas, but last Friday I was fishing at a creek near my house and a snake slithered right past me. I was not trying to be quiet at all. I was moving around alot casting at different trees in the water. I never saw his head so I couldn't identify it. It was probably 3-4 foot long and close enough I could put one foot on it without moving the other foot. It acted as if I wasn't there or it wasn't threatened by my presence. I was mid cast when I caught it in my peripheral vision. It scared me so bad that I bird nested my line. When it was all over my line was wrapped up in the drag gear and I had to go home, since I only had the one pole with me and no screwdriver with me. Quote
11justin22 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I've got a couple of crazy stories. Was fishing beside a bluff that was about 30' tall. Heard a crash in the brush on top of the ridge then this deer leaps off the side of this bluff crashing in the water while I'm standing there with this stupid look on my face. It then swims over to this little ledge and climbs back up to the top of the ridge it had just jumped off of. Snake was swimming along beside the boat and my buddy tossed his Texas rig over by pestering it and it latched ahold of his bait. I have pics of it dangling on the end of his pole. Was fishing and heard a hound dog chasing something and then it and a deer come barreling out towards the lake. Deer jumps in the water and starts swimming across the area of the lake that is about mile and half wide. We watched it for awhile then took the boat and hearded it back to land. Quote
