When it comes to fishing rods I strictly use St Croix. When it comes to reels, its strictly Abu for me.

Here's my story though.

About two years ago I was given a 6'6 M/F Abu Rod for fathers day, but I lost the receipt. Long story short I broke the rod August 2012 on a

hook set right above the 4th guide. I left the rod in my basement, thinking I dont have the receipt they wont cover the warranty.

I got bored last night and I sent them an email of what happened and telling them I didn't have the receipt - And they said it was

fine, as long as I sent them a picture of where the rod broke and the model number on it and they will replace it w/o the receipt,

just have to send the rod back to them with a $9.95 check or money order for the shipping back to me.

Thumbs up to Abu!

I had a similar experience and I called Abu thinking I might have to raise my voice, I didn't have to. The lady was super polite and she processed my claim and gave me a ref number and told me to send pure fishing an email with photos. Pure fishing emailed me back within the hour and I had a new rod at my door in 5 days.

I really like Lews Reels, powell rods, and castaway rods....but I will not hesitate to buy an Abu Garcia product, because I know that Abu will back their product and make it right. And that why I have a few Abu products sprinkled in the mix.

I just had a similar experience as well. I was given an Abu vendetta as a gift 2 years ago so I had no receipt. It broke this past July and I never even bothered to contact them. 2 weeks ago i decided what the heck might as well try and they were awesome to deal with over the phone. I sent them a picture of the broken rod on friday, called the ref number that they provided and by the following Wednesday the rod was at my door.

A few years ago I also sent in a revo S that was a year past the warranty period and notified them to send me a bill/reference number and I would pay the charges via credit card. They fixed it no questions asked and for no cost to me.

No doubt Abu has great customer service!

Very nice!  That is what puts Abu on the top of my favorites list as well!

I have a similar story, regarding a reel issue. They really impressed and delighted me with the service they gave me. They have been just great to deal with.

They sent me a replacement rod and ups broke it, send me another and all is fine. I requested they use a rod tube and they did this time. Abu rocks
