Completely unnecessary on BPS' part. Monster Energy drink tried to puts local brewery out of business up here because they brewed a beer called Vermonster. Ended up a boon for the brewery b/c they played the big Guy bullying us card and even got our congressman involved. I'll think a lot less of BPS if they drive this guy out.

Dang, if you have a jumping bass in your logo, BPS can come after you, sheesh!

Wow. Some people are just bullies. That is horrible.

What the H, the Simple Life Outfitters logo is nothing like the BPS!  The Simple Life Outfitters is a circle with three fish and their lettering is circular, the BPS is an oval with in-line lettering.  BPS must have another agenda, maybe they just don't want another outdoor apparel store in the area.

Not cool at all, I'm really disappointed in BPS.

A picture of a bass coming out of the water...so common. Alot of sites and stores use that for a logo. this guys is using a more realistic picture that features two other popular game fish on it. I can't believe that they feel like they own something like. As far as what the BPS spokesman said, Our logo is our most valuable asset and we fight aggressively to protect it. His logo could reflect negatively on us, if consumers confuse the two."

Nobody in their right mind could ever confuse a mom and pop shop with the Bass Pro Shops. That's like confusing the neighbor hood fruit stand with a grocery store.

Johnny Morris should be ashamed of him self. He is opening MEGA stores every month and he is acting like he is afraid of a mom and pop store.

It really makes me not want to do business there...

Not to mention that the local store owner probably cannot afford to fight this thing if BPS decides to drag it out.

I agree! How rich does he need to be? I have one 20 minutes away and now I am a little ticked to say the least.  I don't that I'll ever go there again.

This ruffles my feathers also.Shame on bps for picking on the little guy.I plan on spending my money elsewhere also

Does this mean that Bass resource needs to change it's logo??????

Boycott is on, I have no need to enter a BPS this year, I can get everything I need elsewhere.  Green Top, here I come :)

I have been not happy with BPS for some stuff happened last year and have been boycotting them already, bu this will make me more not forgiven.

I thought this site being sponsored by BPS, voicing against them might get me kicked out from here..

WTH?? those logos look NOTHING alike!!

I got a few BPS gift cards and then I am done..... this is so stupid it is unbelievable.

one logo is an oval with one fish jumping and the other is a circle with 3 fish jumping, how would ANYONE confuse the 2???

I will google to see if they got a website, if they do I will buy something from them just for support.

they don't even sell baits!!!!!!!! they sell tshirts and wagon wheels!

this makes me hate BPS even more.

Yup done with them.  I have a few more orders that I am getting this winter (I usually stock up in the offseason).  I was looking at a couple lures and some Redhead gear for hunting from them but I won't be anymore.  I always liked Cabelas better anyways and this is just another reason not to shop at their competitor.

A bass jumping out water is ubiquitous, I hope a judge looks at this and sees it for what it is,the big guy just trying to run the little guy out of town, and throws it out of court before there are to many legal fees.  Especially when the little guy already went through legal avenues to acquire his logo.

Should EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) sue Gander Mountain because they both use the word mountain?  There is about as much similarity using the word mountain as there is using a jumping bass in a logo.

That is probably their plan. It is much like some of the union shops up in philly. They will choose a business that is non-union and when there is a job posting they send 25 guys to apply. When they don't get hired for whatever the reason they sue for discrimination. It doesn't cost them anything to sue but it does to defend. They then nickel and dime you to the point you either close up shop or you go union and they drop the lawsuit....shady **** and I cannot stand it.

BPS will no longer get my business.

Haha the Great BPS mad at t shirt shop. Seriously...wouldn't it be more polite just to bring bps nearby and if "simple life..." goes out of business then so be it. Why take them to court, simple life can and will not, compete, with bps. I don't care how loyal the customers are, the majority will end the money at the Mega store because they have a bigger selection and normally lower prices.

Thank goodness for TW, Gander and eBay.

I'm done now, blood pressure is going up. Lol .

Brian, I hope me mentioning eBay doesn't hit a sore spot. Lol.

That's the whole idea behind this, file a lawsuit and see just how far the little guy will fight for what is right!!

HA HA teal...........not at all!!! unless the decision doesn't go my way! HA

for real, I went to their website and cant find baits! They sell Guy Harvey shirts and such. Maybe they sell more in store, IDK.

in other news......I hate that I used all my "likes" for today! I guess I been on the boards for too long today!

This really sucks...A guy over on another site posted the article on BPS FaceBook and they knocked it down immediately. I guess they did not like his sense of humor.

Thanks Fry!  I was boiling with anger about this when I looked at the two logo's side by side which look nothing alike.  Bass Pro Shops is my young sons favorite store (more than Toys r Us) and we spend hours in there together often.  I was going to boycott them BIG TIME until I saw they dropped the law suit.  Glad to hear Johnny Morris did what he did.  Stand up guy for sure.  Hopefully he fires his sue-happy legal team next!
