rangerboy Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 its that time of year again, and would like to spend some of my tax money on new gear. ive always been a bass pro shops boy, and until two days ago my freind from san luis obispo told me about tacle warehouse. news to me, maybe im living under a rock, but this place looks to have everything bps has at good prices as well. any thoughts. we all work hard to enjoy the things we have and it would be nice to get the best bang for the buk. thanks, dave Quote
Lunker7 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Yeah, tackle warehouse is good, I also like to shop at Dick's. Dick's has a lot of great products at great prices. (At least the one near me does.) I get all my stuff there. Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 If you look on the right side of this page there are some awesome sponsor sites that sell very good products. Quote
tbone1993 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 **Tackle**Warehouse has a great selection focused on bass only. At bass pro you will find everything under the sun. The only time i use BPS is for feeling reels before I buy them somewhere else or if I am given a gift card. Free shipping on orders over $50 at TW is also a plus also they have pretty good sale items, BPS sales tend to be things no one wants. 1 Quote

flippin and pitchin Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I wish I had never learned about Tackle Warehouse. One of the best, if not the best selections anywhere. Prices are good to very good and the service and shipping is unmatched in my book. They carry Northstar, Mega Strike, Pinnacle and Rage by the way so you can support those sponsors indirectly. 2 Quote
rangerboy Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 nice, been thinking about a new g-loomis rod, hear good things about the top water rod Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 About 75% of what I buy comes from Tackle Warehouse, the rest from the chain stores in the local area Gander Mtn., Dicks, Wal marts,etc... and if we are out that way Bass Pro shops. I would buy more locally if I could, but there are just not many (that I know about) locally owned and operated tackle shops that actually have what I would want, or use. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 12, 2013 Global Moderator Posted January 12, 2013 TW is where I get anything I can't get at the local Bass Pro. My wife works at BPS in Olathe, KS so I get a discount on everything, up to 40% on their brands of gear. Pretty tough for anyone to beat baits at almost half price Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 I haven't order from TW yet but the next time I need something thats where Im going. BPS shipping prices are based on how much your order costs. Not how much it weighs. Plus they charge and extra 6 bucks for rods 6 feet and over. TW is free for orders $50 or more and you can upgrade it to 2-day for 5 bucks. Quote

Shewillbemine Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I'm a research ***** and for the money, you can't beat Tackle Warehouse prices. Perhaps the only thing would be ebay or Craigslist but neither of those give you a selection. It's sad for local retail stores but I have learned that all of their equipment is marked up significantly and cannot compete with online shopping. The only time I'll buy anything in person is if I need something in a bind, like if I lose a lure the day before and want the same pattern the following day. Quote

Super User webertime Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 The number of free stickers around the house from $50 TW orders is staggering . Quote
tugsandpulls Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 i like dicks this time of year they have the clearence sales and i like bps in the spring Quote
rangerboy Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 i dont think we have any dicks this side of ca. but ive seen the adds on tv. both cabelas and bps are over an hour from here. gotta like the clearence bins. some times its like hitting the lotto. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 Each has their ups and downs. I can get certain things from each place that the others dont have. Also, each has different sales. Quote
WarEagleBassin Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Can't beat Tackle Warehouse in my opinion. They have great prices, stuff on sale that you will actually use, and great shipping prices. I buy almost everything there. I have also gotten a few free t-shirts with my orders. Quote
BassThumb Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Any of the major online retailers that offer occasional 10-20% off sales and free shipping on orders over $50-75 will see my business. Quote
aceman387 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Tackle warehouse for me also. The only time i go to bps is if i get gift cards for the holidays or an emergency outage. Quote
fowlskies Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Cabelas is another good site to order from, and their return policy is top notch. I ordered a few things the other week, it came in and one of the swimbaits had a couple small chips in it. I called their customer service and they sent me a new one and told me to keep the other one, no questions asked. Hard to beat that customer service. They have a great selection and bargain bin and their shipping is usually free for over $99. If you google Cabelas coupons you can find deals like free shipping over $49 or $20 off orders of $100-$150. TW is a great site with great selection like mentioned, not sure how their customer service is though. I have never had an issue with any orders from them. Quote
Fishin24/7 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I usually order tackle warehouse but bass tackle depot doesn't have much of a selection but, they run sales quite often. They had a 25% off everything sale a couple weeks ago. Quote
Silas Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Tackle Warehouse, with its wide selection of fishing gear and Bass Tackle Depot, with its timely sales.......and both with outstanding customer service (I've had personal calls from both of them) have spoiled me for Bass Pro, with its seemingly inflated prices, and as another forum member puts it......sales on stuff people don't want. Bass Pro is 25 miles away....so, time, gas, taxes, and retail prices have done them in for me. (I've had good food at their Islamorada Restaurant, but not consistent....NOW you have to ASK for the fresh baked bread....the waitress told me that's how they save money...used to be served before each meal, complimentary) The other 2 are a computer click away, no taxes, sometimes no shipping charges.....great service. I believe in 10 years, ONLINE stores will decimate storefronts and make them almost obsolete. And, of course, the sponsors here....Bobby at Megastrike, along with our Jig sponsors...have made shopping for fishing tackle actually "pleasant." Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted January 14, 2013 Super User Posted January 14, 2013 TW, thehookuptackle, and the tackletrap see 90% of my business. We have a BPS, Cabelas, Dicks, and Scheels but they have very limited selection and their sales are typically pretty specific, whereas the first 3 have more % off type of sales that allow me to purchase what I want at a discounted price, rather then settling for only a select few items.
