soccplayer07 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Anyone try one of these? Thoughts? The reviews on Tackle Tour were pretty good. http://www.mygogetit.com/ Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 11, 2013 Super User Posted January 11, 2013 Never used the pole retrievers but have heard good results from guys who have. I have the 44 mag lure retriever and the BPS one as a backup. If you can find one, that 44 mag is a beast at getting lures back. Paid for itself a bunch of times with the swimbaits already. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 11, 2013 Super User Posted January 11, 2013 I have not but these guys seemed to like it. A-Jay http://www.tackletour.com/reviewgogetit.html Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 11, 2013 Super User Posted January 11, 2013 I don't have that particular brand, but I always carry a pole type lure retriever in my boat was well as one of those heavy weight hound dog types. In different situations, one will work better than the other. Over a season, they will pay for themselves. Quote

B@ssCrzy Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I have. Bought the longest one. First one they sent me one of the extensions would not lock. Called them and they were great about sending me a replacement no charge. Fished with it for about two seasons or so. Then on my new one one of the fasteners broke. Did work to retrieve a couple of lures, but I think that it is a little difficult in getting the bait in the correct position to knock it lose. I have not tried the other "pole" retrievers so I can't say that one is better than the other. If I were going to buy a knew lure retriever today it would probably be the "plug knocker" type that you send down on the line to knock it loose or catch the hooks with chains to pull it loose. Hope this helps. Quote
Silas Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I have the Frabill, 15 foot with a METAL COIL at the end....about $40. Telescopes and works extremely well! Saved several custom crankbaits and Vision 110's!! Well worth the money. Quote
gripnrip Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I use the BPS with the chain. I've taken an old bait caster and reeled the string up on that. I then used an old bait casting rod and cut it off. I put the reel on that and I have saved numerous expensive cranks! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 12, 2013 Super User Posted January 12, 2013 with or without chains? 44 mag without, BPS with. Quote

Telescopes and works extremely well! Saved several custom crankbaits and Vision 110's!! Well worth the money. I use the same one. Not only great for retrieving my baits when I get snagged up but also very good at getting lures others have lost in the trees Paid for itself many, many times over. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 so Frabill or Go-Get-It? Two different heads. Which is better? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 14, 2013 Global Moderator Posted January 14, 2013 so Frabill or Go-Get-It? Two different heads. Which is better? I like the Frabill because treble hooked baits you can actually snag the treble hooks and pull a bait loose because sometimes you can't just push a bait loose like if the hook is buried in a piece of wood or a rope hanging from a dock or something. I'd much rather straighten a hook than lose a bait. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 14, 2013 Super User Posted January 14, 2013 I'm not sure Aaron. It's been a while since I have seen him advertising. Quote
