Fishin24/7 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Could anyone give me some information about any of the cashion custom rods. Most people I talked to that have fished them either love them or hate them. I have felt them in my local store and they just don't quite feel like a $200 rod IMO. I just would like everyone opinion and also I've heard the guides pop out a lot on them? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 10, 2013 Super User Posted January 10, 2013 Not sure how you can call a production rod in a store "custom." Never handled one, myself. They do run a huge tournament up here on Oneida with a big payout in prizes and product. Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 10, 2013 Super User Posted January 10, 2013 Go to the companys web site, get the number and call Matt Cashion. He is very down to earth and will talk to you and answer all of your questions. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 10, 2013 Super User Posted January 10, 2013 I own 1 Cashion. I've had it for a year and it quickly became my favorite rod. It's never had any guide issues with it. I ordered mine through Cashion because I wanted a different reel seat then what the off the shelf models use. I spoke with Matt directly while ordering and he's a super nice guy. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted January 10, 2013 Super User Posted January 10, 2013 I had one in the shop for a guide repair and I can't see what all the hype is about. It was one of the most poorly assembled and finished rods I've ever seen. Quote
Fishin24/7 Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 Well you know what I mean when I say custom and that was his company's full name(not sure about now). I just wanted people's opinion who have fished with them before who were not sponsered by them. I was reading reviews on TW and many people said that the actions are heavier than what cashion rates them because of the really stiff tip? Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 11, 2013 Super User Posted January 11, 2013 I have the all purpose 6'10 mh/f and it doesn't feel any stiffer then my Kistler micro mag. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 11, 2013 Super User Posted January 11, 2013 Call and see if they will be anywhere near you for a tournament and maybe you could demo one. Quote

Thanks I will see if I can get my hands on one. My local tackle store has them but I'd like to fish one to get a feel for it. I will probably just get one to try it since several of the tournamnets I fish have the cashion cash bouns. Quote
