How Would You Fish This Route In 40+ Degree Water Temps?

This is a very productive area near me but one I have never fished this time of year.

My initial approach was going to be a drop-shot at the bridge, then hit the end of the point with a suspending jerkbait followed up with a jig-n-craw and a shakey head. Known species of fish in this body of water are: bluegill, crappie, white bass, yellow perch (aka ring perch), pickerel and largemouth bass.

Well I have fished there a lot and here is my .02. There is a lot of grass in that lake so I would search for any that is still green. There is also a lot of flats adjacent to the creek channel once you get past the second bridge so i would probe those areas with a crankbait, jerkbait and bottom bouncers of your choosing.

The further you get from the ramp the shallower it gets which to me would say warms up more too. There are some good deep holes up towards the north west end of the lake near where the Lilly pads are in the summer which may produce as well.

It is a huge lake and finding fish can be hard but once you do the pattern seems to be consistent throughout the lake in a given day.

A couple of areas I am looking at near the bridge has got some pretty good lookin humps, Im thinkin a jig there worked slowly up the sides or a JB worked around those drops, I like the drop shot at the bridge but I would not limit myself to just that area with it, if there is some tall grass in there, I would put that drop shot bait at the very top of the grass or run a lipless or a small spinner across the top of the grass if they get frisky.

Love the ideas so far. Bass is the target for sure. Just wanted to give an accurate picture of the main fish populations sampled every couple of years. I have a jerbait tied on one rod that will double as my shakey head rod, a jig-n-craw on another, a lipless crank on another that can double as a jerkbait rod in a pinch.

Never fished there but always wanted to, I like the topo map that I was looking at, but it depends on the fish and what they are relating to as to what I would be doing for techniques.

As fate would have it, the dreaded "honey-do" list reared its ugly head late last night and I am needed elsewhere today - no fishing for me

 

Might not be a bad deal though since the forecast is calling for rain non-stop from 9am - late afternoon.  Just my luck.......

I don't get the weather, last I heard it was supposed to be overcast in the am and then clearing out by the afternoon with little to no wind, I got up this am and the wind was blowing around 10 to 15 and I could see the stars....go figure???

As long as it is nice tomorrow i will be happy.  I plan on doing some serious paddling and fishing tomorrow....possibly a sunrise start even
