Heavy Sinking Brush Hog Alternative

I'm looking for something similar to brush hog, but something heavier and something sinks faster. Anyone know of any? When I say something similar, I am talking 5", or preferably more like 6" long and has some bulk and action with arms/tails/legs.

Zoom does offer a super hog. Look em up, maybe they will work for you. Otherwise I would suggest using a weight, or a heavier one.

You might want to try using a nail weight or some other kind of internal weight.

Peg a heavier bullet weight to the line using the toothpick technique. Or you could also use the nail weight method mentioned above. I like to flip/pitch the full size brush hogs with a 1/4oz bullet weight pegged to the line using the toothpick method.

I agree with the heavier weight.  I also use bobber stops instead of the toothpick which seem to work better for me.

I was just looking for heavier bait.

 

Here is the situation. I have this one particular place with large and sharp rocks that seem to eat any type of weight pretty quickly. The best so far was Mojo type of weight, but still get snagged too often. For some reason Brush Hog catches fish there. Currently fish are in the deep. No boat on this lake currently and I am casting as far as I can from the bank. While I don't really want to do weightless, that's what I am planning do. I was wondering if any of you can suggest heavier bait which cast better and sinks faster without use of any weight. If not, I was already thinking about the keel weighted type of hook or parasite type of weight as plan B.

I have not ever used these but it,worth a try if that area is "eating weights". Owner jig rig. You can get it in 5/0 and 1/4 oz

You might also consider the PowerTeam Lures Texas Rig Jig - it's only 4.5" but definitely fits the bill as far as bulky - it combines the skirt action of the Brush Hog and the look and feel of a craw.

The other option would be to contact Travis over at http://www.stankxbaitco.com and have him custom make you some heavier baits by adding more salt.  I have had him make me some cusotm stick baits before and it was a nominal price increase and i got exactly what i wanted.

 

He does make a brush hog and a creature type bait that have some heft to them already and by adding more salt i am sure the would be even heavier.

I was going to suggest the keel weighted hook idea also.

 

Maybe try drop shotting it? It will give you a little different pull on the bait and change the angle the weight meets up with the rocks. Just a thought.

Try BPS's Crack Craw. It's big bulky and heavy.

i think the Strike King Rage Hawg may be heavier/bulkier and its about the same as the brush hog... 

i fish from the bank alot myself and know what you mean by needing to fish weightless.  i have a lot of luck with a Yamamoto Hula Grub as well for something a little bulkier....just a suggestion

As suggested I would contact DocIrv and have him make a brush hog with his Senko sinking formula.

 

With all the appendages flapping in the wind, brush hogs are not the most aerodynamic bait

Why not just put a couple finishing nails in it like suggested before.  Either that or Rage Rig it.
