Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted January 9, 2013 Super User Posted January 9, 2013 KVD 1.5's for me. I also like Bandit cranks. Haven't fished their squarebills yet but the 200 series is a good shallow crank. Ive caught fish on all sorts of colors with both of these baits. Quote
Jake P Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 think he meant RC 3.5? I'm pretty sure the pic he is talking about was caught with a kvd 2.5. Must have been a typo? Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 9, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 9, 2013 Idk but if there is a 3.5 I wanna try one Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 9, 2013 Global Moderator Posted January 9, 2013 Idk but if there is a 3.5 I wanna try one Lucky Craft makes a few baits in a 3.5 and a 4.5 size. http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/crankbait/lc3-5.html My pick would have to be Lucky Craft 1.5. Haven't tried one of the new ones but all my old RC's still work great! Quote
PondBoss Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I have always been a big fan of the Bomber baits. Love the selection of coffin bills. Xcalibur also makes a Fat Free square bill that's pretty sweet as well. Chartreuse/Blue back is my go to color in the Fat Free square bill, Chartreuse/Brown back for the coffin bill. Quote
rangerjockey Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I like balsa the best. The old balsa b's, wec's , and TC cranks. There is a newer bait made around here called Basscraft that has been really good for me. They run perfect out of the package , have good hooks and Dwain Batey at the bait werks does some of the paint work . A really high quality square bill. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted January 9, 2013 Super User Posted January 9, 2013 Used to use Bombers back in the day, then switched to a few KVDs. Recently caught a big sale at DSG, and picked up a huge assortment of Bomber Square As, and Shallow As. I personally think that the Bombers outperform the KVDs. 1 Quote
Primus Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Lucky Craft 1.5 for numbers of quality fish. When the fishing is real tough I will through the 0.5 in the Ghost color. For big fish the Lucky Craft RC 3.5. - Lucky Craft is still the champ in my opinion as far as plastic squarebills go. Others baits that I like include the KVD 1.5 & 2.5 , Ima Bill Lowen squarebill & River to Sea Creepin' squarebill. The Ima one has come through me on some tough bites when they wouldn't hit the other baits. Quote
jhoffman Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Ive been contemplating cutting the lip down on a wiggle wart and then bending it with heat. So affraid to ruin a good bait though. Maybe the next time I scratch off a $500 ticket I can give it a shot. Quote
tylerwyp Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 As of right now it would have to be LC RT 1.5. This being said if i was on a budget it would be xcalibur xcs100 although im really excited to try out my new 6th sense crush 50x Quote
NC_Bass6 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 kvd 1.5. love the bluegill and sexy shad Quote
Gangley Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Bomber model b balsa......fantastic wobble and awesome deflection. A little hard to find sometimes, but great lure! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 10, 2013 Super User Posted January 10, 2013 Strike King KVD's, and Spro Little Johns. 1 Quote

I really like the looks of their Baby Bluegill pattern, going to try a couple next season after the ice melts away. Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 10, 2013 I'm glad some else finally said Spro little johns. Quote
TheKingFisher Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Great topic! We all get to talk about our favorite and see what else is out there which is always a bonus for the tackle junkies. My favorite is the KVD squarebill 2.5 in bluegill. As a bank fisher when I really want to fish water away from the shore the KVD casts a mile and calls in some good size fish too! Quote
TheKingFisher Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Do you mean the 2.5? I was thinking the same thing. I actually went and checked couldn't imagine one bigger than the 2.5! Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 10, 2013 Te KVD 2.5 blue gill is a big producer for me in the spring and late fall. You are right, its heavy enough to sling a mile. It's bigger profile makes it a great, big fish bait. Quote

I got hooked on lipless cranks when I started throwing them and laid off the lipped cranks for awhile. The flat side on the Little John makes me think it's like a cross between a lipped and lipless crank resulting in a shallow crank with a tighter wobble. Man you guys are helping me put together a nice little shopping list. Quote
Super User Teal Posted January 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 10, 2013 I love the way the fat john wobbles, I just hate that their color selection is limited Quote

Super User Teal Posted January 10, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 10, 2013 If i was to go through all that then i would get some of my dads old bagley B's and send them off..lol the old ones were amazing. Quote
