Super User clayton86 Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 So iv been experiencing upper abdominal pain every now and then for a few months now usually at night just keeps me up curled up in bed in the fetal position. It started on the deployment so I chalked it up to some bad local food or they poisoned me at chow since it usually followed a ham steak dinner served by Muslims. Well it happened again tonight this time so bad I woke my mom and sister with my high velocity vomit smacking the toilet with the utmost authority. My sister made a comment that peaked me intrest she said she had the same "attacks" when she had her gall stones prior to her surgery to have her gallbladder removed. So after puking up my italian sausage and rice I had for dinner I did some quick research. Tender under right side of ribs CHECK, happens at night CHECK, vomiting CHECK CHECK AND CHECK THAT BOX, constipation triple CHECK that one to, headaches over eyes CHECK, pain radiating to my right shoulder CHECK Iv got like 90% of the symtoms of a gall bladder attack from gall stones. I'm hopping its all just coincidence I mean the flu is going around though I feel fine now that I just puked 7 times hungry but fine. Of all the hereditary problems I could have it's gonna start with this my gall bladder man I hope not I'll be ticked iv gone this long beating the odds of heart problems, diabetes, cancer, thyroid and what ever else everyone in my family has there all sickly besides me I swear if I didn't look I could be my fathers twin 20 years ago I'd say I was adopted. I'm hoping it's just maybe all been stress related I mean I'm under tons of stress iv started balding and iv got quite a bit of gray hair over the last year or so which is new no one on either side my family is or has ever been bald but I'm starting to get a receding hairline to go with my salt and pepper gray hair at 26. Guess I should probably make an appointment to see the doc he hasn't seen me in like 10 years anyways. Quote
BasskingKeith Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just get it checked out, no need to suffer and try to figure it out on your own. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Don't diagnose yourself, there are experts out there that can do a far better job than you. 1 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 I agree with getting to a doctor. I just hope the doctors in your area are better than what Ive got here. Ive had similar symptoms to what you have for the last couple of years and Im also thinking its my gall bladder. Been to the ER and a specialist or 2 on several occasions. They've ran every test under the sun and all I get out of it is "well, it could be this and it could be that but were not really sure". They can't pinpoint whats wrong with me but they sure don't have any problems sending me a bill. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Get it looked at by a doctor. There are a lot of things on the right side that you don't want to mess with. Quote

I dont diagnose people or operate on people. Go to the doctor. Its not like your getting your prostate checked. Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 if the doctor recommends a lobotomy, go find another doctor. on a serious note, i hope you feel better. don't ONLY do what the doctor says. do more. do the hard stuff that doesn't come in a pill. take good care of yourself. get to bed early and get plenty of sleep each night, eat more healthy foods..and less junk/fried foods/cigarettes/booze/hookers, sleep or eat a cold away instead of taking medicine, find a low stress job (one that is within your mental capabilities vs overwhelming), surround yourself with good people.. and fish more . Super User Teal Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Don't risk your health! Take your butt to a doctor. 11/20/2012 ( just a couple months ago). My older brother ( my best friend) passed away two weeks before turning 32 years old. Different scenario than you, short story, he had diabetes and then got sick ( with pneumonia) and refused to go to a doctor. Our youngest brother found him passed away in his house. Don't put your folks through that. Not trying to scare you but my heart aches every day because he didn't take his butt to the doctor. What's a short visit to the doctor.. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Oh what the heck? Go see a doctor !!!! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 8, 2013 I'm very anti doctor but im gonna go just cuz I'm sick of the pain it freaking hurts it feels like iv taken a punch to the gut and got the wind knocked out of me but im not short of breath. I feel like million bucks today been out scouting for some coyote hunting stands, checked the zero on my 243, went out on the ice to check with some pike fisherman on the conditions then took my boy squirrel hunting. But I will be going to the doctors to get it checked out Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 9, 2013 Super User Posted January 9, 2013 It does sound like its probably your gallbladder. I do 5-10 gallbladder ultrasounds a day but its not always just gallstones, the function plays a part too. I would say the postprandial pain, after eating, points towards gallstones, the gallbladder contracts and then the stones cause discomfort once the gallbladder empties. You tend to have upper right pain, chest pain, or pain in the shoulder to between your shoulder blades. You do need to see the doctor and probably need and ultrasound a possibly a HIDA scan, if there's no stones to test the function. 1 Quote
