Aluma-Bass Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 What is everyone using to convert the gopro mp4 files over to a file that YouTube accepts? Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Huh? Last time I checked mp4 works. If it really doesn't just save the file as a wmv or something else Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Im sorry , its the editing software that doesn't accept mp4. I use windows Live Movie Maker since it was already installed on my laptop. That's what im looking for is something to convert it over to wmv or avi so im able to edit? Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 I would just suggest downloading a different free movie maker, because trying to find a free converter is pretty hard. I've tried that before and they all say free until you actually download and install, then they want you to pay. Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Actually, you may not need to do anything at all. Just plug your device (or insert your card into a card reader) into your computer and upload it directly to YouTube. They have an upload utility and editor built in that will do the basics for you. Its not perfect in anyway and the editing capabilities are limited. It also takes a while and any lag in internet speed or loss of connection will time out your upload but it works in a pinch. I have an iMac, so I upload into iMovie first, edit the project and finalize it before direct upload to YouTube. No issues here. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 I just downloaded the free software from GoPro and use that to make clips. I don't add music or anything fancy to it, so not sure what the capabilities are with regards to that. Also found out that if you are using Internet Explorer for your browser, Youtube will not let you load the file. I had to download Chrome to upload MP4s to YT the other day. Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 You also can use Firefox, which is what I use for an internet browser, and it allows the upload. The IE issue is related to the default security settings employed by MSOFT. You can modify those to allow the upload, but it is easier to use another browser. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 For simple conversion use the CineForm free software on the GoPro website. Quote
