I have been using a classic cinch knot for the past year. I just downloaded the Bill Dance app last week and he has a "Knots" section. I just learned the palomar knot. WOW! That is one tough cookie! Question is are there by knots that I should not use with certain lures? Or can I go palomar crazy and tie it on my drop shot rigs, minnows, spoons, cranks and spinners? :-)

I use a palomar for braid and an improved clinch on mono or flouro myself. Just be sure to tighten evenly and moisten the knot before tightening.

I have used the palomar with everything with no issues but I think the improved clinch is easier to tie on mono or flouro.

Learn to tie the Pitzen or 16/20 knot.  It will work on any kind of line and you can tie it in the winter with gloves on.

I always thought I tied the clinch or improved clinch until I downloaded that app... FInally discovered that the knot I have been relying on for years is the San Diego Jam... Pretty Bad-*** Name for a knot.  I have never had that knot let go.

Also use the palomar knot now and again, but not as confident in it.

Palomar for everything and it's only failed a few times and that was my own fault for not retying.

I really like a doubled up double uni for attaching my fluro leaders to braid.I also snell any straight shank hook and palomar everything else.

X2...I use the double uni for any line to line connection.

Snell knot on straight shank flipping hooks, but other than that it's the San Diego Jam.  Best know I've ever used easily.

x2, but I cannot do it with gloves (except those with cut off finger tip types).
