It was broken in the box. I know the delivery company has to be to blame. Nothing like seeing a 7 ft 11 rod in a 8+ foot box crammed under a 7 1/2 ft front stoop. It was probably powerbombed through a flaming table like wrestling before it even got to the door.

 

Monday started out crappy, got happy, back to crappy, but we are all alive today!

 

Abu's customer service it top notch so I expect a reply shortly from them

 

 

I saw the box after hearing the doorbell and started to  get jiggy

but no that does suck. I'm sorry to hear did you have shipping insurance or does that matter in this case?

Abu's customer service is good. Wiithin a week from when ii bought a 7mm winch model. Mine broke abit 6 inchs from the top of while making a cast. I called them, i was instructed to send and email and photos to pure fishing and they had a new rod at my door within a weeks time. I havent had anyy more problems. And because it was less than 30the days old i didnt pay any shipping

This is directly from abu so Ill see. Lol, I had 2 carrot stix fall apart but I love the color lol.

I think I saw a fish shimano sticker on the UPS truck, might have been one of LMGs followers or henchmen.

If possible, see if they will ship it to your work. I find the purchases like that are handled somewhat better than when delivering to your home.

I got another replacement and it wasnt broken this time....but all the guides were messed up and misaligned, sigh

Ill see what happens on monday...If I was around last week Id probably have another coming by Tueday but I was able to inspect the rod today. My mother was able to tell me it wasnt broken when accepting the rod for me but once I took it out of the bag I noticed every guide was screwey. It looked like a spiral wrapped rod. It came in a tube this time.

When you contact them they will see the previous problems. Just be blunt say it is crazy that your replacement rod was a complete dud. Ask for compensation for your trouble and missed time on the water. I use this tactic whenever I deal with any customer service and have gotten everything from extra Comcast boxes to multiple months of free cable. They will most likely work with you.

So they replaced the miss aligned guide rod and the replacement for that rods broke also?

Had a rod that was 6ft9 microguide and the tip insert came out and the 2nd guide broke from the bottom(I think the rod was used/returned but it was a gift).

 

They warrantied it and I asked for a 7ft11 rod instead. They shipped it and it came broken from UPS......they sent another 7ft 11to replace the broken one from UPS and all of the guides are cockeyed and twisted.

I actually sent the email upon inspecting it today so nothing before Monday. I'm sure my rep will take care of me as he has been, she's been great so far service wise despite the incidents which have been out of her control.

Wow. How in the world did that pass QC??? Oh, what QC? That's pathetic. Send them a pic of the rod and the guides and ask them that question. Ask them for a free Revo too.

It was inspected Friday @ 4:59 in the factory and Chilis was serving 2 for 1's across the street and cockeyed Kevin had to be at his next job by 6?

Yikes! No rods should have guides messed up that bad on them. The thing that gets me is that if you're a company that is replacing a broken or incorrectly made product for someone....you already know that they had one bad experience and there's a higher chance they are already somewhat upset with you or have lost some faith in your products. I would be on top of my game dealing with that customer. Maybe give the product one extra lookover....takes a few seconds but saves you the cost of re-shipping more items and maybe even losing a customer for life. I will say that I don't ever remember reading bad things about their customer service though. Everyone seems to be pretty happy with them.

Man that thing looks like it was made by a Chinese child laborer who has ADHD, forgot his ritalin, is cross eyed, who has just come off his workbreak taking an extended break on a high speed merry-go-round.

 

We have a Verdict and a Veritas and while they aren't St. Croix, Falcon or G Loomis craftsmanship, they aren't that bad.   They way I look at ABU's line is that they are good blanks and decent components thrown together by cheap overseas labor.  Love my St. Croix, Falcon, All Star (Old one) and Loomis rods but when the price is right,  the ABU stuff is tolerable.  Never have seen one like that though.
