JustinPlog Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 So I registered for all 5 of the FLW BFL Great Lakes division tournaments as a Co-Angler without a Boater. I registered about 5 hours after the registration was open but I'm now on the waiting list. Is this just because enough boaters haven't signed up yet? should I try hunting down a boater? New to tournaments so I don't really know how it works...Thanks for the help! Quote
lmoore Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 You'll be fine. I did the same thing last year, they'll send you a confirmation about a week before each tournament. Are you really from green bay? Pretty long drive to fish most of the GL Division. 2 Quote
JustinPlog Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Yeah most of them are on the other side of the state. but it will give me some time to camp.... found some good camp sites! thanks for the help! Quote
lmoore Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 No problem. As you get closer to the tourneys, feel free to pm me with questions. Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Woot first post been reading and lurking for a while here bit. I just did this to, last night actually. The BFL Okie series. A friend in another forum told me that you wouldn't know until the pre-tourney meeting the day before. Which kind of sucks cause the one I registered for in my state is 2 hrs away! i'll be pretty upset if I drive 2 hrs and I can't get in. But I just got an email from FLW saying that as of now I am on the "waiting list" and that "FLW Outdoors will notify you as soon as your position changes within the tournament." So surely they have a better format of getting people paired before the day of the tournament so people wouldn't wast time driving and not get to even participate. But i could be wrong and maybe thats just how they do it. Is it hard getting picked as a co-angler with a boater? Anyone who has done this feel free to weigh in with more info plz. Quote
lmoore Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'm not sure when Okie starts, but youll know before the meeting, more than likely. You'll be on the waiting list until enough boaters sign up. There's a lot of people that sign up the week before, so that's about when you'll hear (again, more than likely). Quote
TrapperJ Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 First tourney is 3/9 ok good to know I was like surely there is a better way. Since I am already registered I found some peeps over at another forum looking to link with a non boater, I guess I'll see about getting link so I get in for sure. Quote

If you have one available, definitely link with someone. Being this early, you'll get into all of them unless there was about 100 cos in that division that signed up really early. Still, it's nice to have that piece of mind. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 They just need more boaters to sign up before you are linked and get the confirmation. It is better to link with a boater by going onto the FLW site and posting you need a boater but you will be ok. I'm in the BFL Illini divsion and plenty of co-anglers and boaters try to link up before the events and then sign up with the boater/co angler information. Quote
JimmyMack814 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I live in Illinois and just a couple of days ago, FLW informed me that for both Great Lakes and Illini Divisions, they have more co-anglers signed up than boaters currently. Quote
susky killer Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 You can call FLW's 800 number day of meeting to get updates on waiting list. You get an idea if you have a shot of getting in or not before you make a long drive or make hotel accodations etc. Quote
lmoore Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 They always have more cos than boaters this time of year, at least for the Great Lakes. There are lots of locals that fish those along the river and usually they wait til the last week to sign up Quote
