MIbassin Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Hello Forum! i was wondering how you guys use spinnerbaits at different times of the day with success. for me, i usually start fishing them with a constant retrieve after the topwater bite dies down, in the afternoon i will slow roll them, in early evening i will also fish them with a constant retrieve until i feel that i can fish topwater again. Super User Felix77 Posted January 5, 2013 Super User Posted January 5, 2013 I don't necessarily use spinnerbaits based on the time of the day per se. It's about conditions for me. Clear/bright - Burn baby burn. I fish it as quickly as I can. The new Strike King burners are awesome for this. 1/4 - 3/8oz Stained/Overcast - Moderate retrieve. 3/8-1/2oz Water temperature also plays a part As early spring approaches I go to slow-rolling first and work my way up in speed until Summer. After summer I start with burining and slow my way down. Lastly I like to see a nice chop on the water and some wind to use a spinnerbait. I haven't had much success with spinnerbaits in clear flat water. Quote
jhoffman Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I really stop throwing spinnerbaits in june. Ill pick one up now and then but im on more plastics and jigs when that water starts jumpn. Quote
nascar2428 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I never hesitate to throw a spinnerbait , any time of the day under just about any condition. IMO it is one of the most versatile lures around. All kinds of different ways to present it with all kinds of different color combimations. Like all of the lures, a lot of it depends on the fish. I can't wait for my BPS and Megastrike orders to arrive then all I have to do is wait for the big thaw!! Quote
