Son and I thinking about a three day trip to Guntersville. Thinking maybe the first week or two of March. Looking for any good info we can get. Best time to go? Where to launch, where to stay or camp, that kind of stuff. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Love Guntersville Lake.  I grew up near there and didn't know how good I had it till I moved.  I used to live about a mile from the public launch at Mud Creek, which is on the north end of the lake in Hollywood, AL about 8 miles north of Scottsboro.  They just rebuilt the dock and ramp a couple years ago, so it's a really nice place to put in.  There's a really popular restaraunt right there at the ramp called Mud Creek Fish Camp (most locals call is Mud Creek BBQ) and that's nice for grabbing a burger while your'e out on the water.  There are also some rental cabins about a half mile or less from the boat ramp.  Sorry, don't remember the name, but if you google the name of the restaraunt there and call them I'm sure they can give you the info.  Cabins have garages for your boat.  Mud Creek is excellent fishing with wide flats, lots of boat houses and brush to fish around.  If you go out to the main channel there should be some good fishing out there between the mouth of Mud Creek and the power plant just south of there.  Or you can head north up the main channel and swing into Raccoon Creek on you right and fish all day in there if you like.  Rattle trap is king in march.  I've had great luck with silver and crawfish pattern in early spring.   WORD OF CAUTION: Get a map and know where you're running!  Lot's of Guntersville Lake feeder creeks are very shallow if you get out of the creek channels.  I wouldn't run on plane without knowing where I'm at.  The same stumps that make for great fishing also make for costly foot repairs to your motor.  If you decide on Mud Creek and see a guy with a 21 foot red Bullet with a 300 hp Merc on it, tell Adam that Phil said hey.  You can't miss him.  :)
