Igou Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 I'm looking to ad a transom mounted fish finder to my ranger. What Sonar/Fish Finder works best in your opinion for a Young tournament angler? Looking to attach it to a Minnkota Terova or alike. Would like to have GPS capabilities. Money is always a factor, but I believe that if a person has to spend money, it should be on their sonars. Suggestions? Quote
BassnChris Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 If you can afford it...I would go with Side Imaging first......then Down Imaging as my second choice.....and just 2d sonar as my last choice featurewise. I just switched over to Lowrance from Humminbird but I think they both make a quality product. My change was initiated more due to logistics. I do not like to recommend any particular model.......it is a very subjective and personal choice. I suggest you find a retailer in your area where you can go see all the different models in person and get a little button time with them. Bass Pro and Cabelas are good ones but any retailer that has them on displacy and running in demo mode. You can exit the demo and play the buttons to see which might suit your fancy. Good luck 1 Quote
Igou Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I appreciate the input Chris! The only downfall is that im stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as retailers go......closest cabelas is 4 hrs away and closet scheels and gander mountain is about the same! but i will certainly get some "finger time" in on them! Its certainly worth the trip!! Quote
lmoore Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Hop on 90, Owatonna, Minnesota should only be 2-3 hours from Okiboji. Geting a chance to try them out would be a big help. Besides, you should have plenty of time between now and spring to get there and try them....assuming you aren't one of those crazies that spends all day staring at a 6 inch hole in the ice. 1 Quote
