There aughta' be a chat room on this site. It would be really fun to to have semi-live conversations. But then again we might all be too busy fishing for that.

I talk to a few guys through their profile on here or in PM. Also a couple on facebook.

I'm afraid if that were available I wouldn't get off of the computer!

I've seen other sites with "chat box" features.  They always erupt into arguments.  Too much to moderate.  The PM feature here works pretty well.

You got a point there, even though this site is better then the average there's always a spat about c&r running around, wonder how that argument would fair in a chat room. :eyebrows:

I wouldn't mind a chat room, I'm on one at another hobby site and it does fine without moderation but it is a different type of crowd

I've been in quite a few chat rooms over the years, none lately, yes there were some heated debates but for the most part required no moderation.  A good chat room allows all sides of a topic to be aired and quite a few subjects turn to politics, a BR restriction.  Some forums( fishing related ) have a chat room feature, which are not open 24 hours but have certain "room hours".  Some of these forums do not restrict content of topics, not only is there an "Everything Else" section, but sections where one can take off the gloves and discuss any subject matter is encouraged.

Given the fact of the exceptionally large BR membership, certain restrictions should be in place here......this ain't the place for chat room.

I agree, some chat rooms get overwhelmed by politics, religion, gun's, or just plain BS.  The PM's here are better cause you can talk about each other behind their back.  :)

This topic pops up every now and then.... :)

Personally, I don't like chat for 2 reasons:

1. Very difficult to moderate.  Too many opportunities for fights to erupt.

2.  There's no record of rich conversations with good tips and advice.  This is a disservice to those who weren't lucky enough to be there during the chat session.  Thousands of members would miss out.
