I don't understand why men not only let their wives call the shots, but also brag about it.

Because I just dropped 1200 on a new TIG welder. 80 on four new wrenches. 35 on a new screw driver set. 750 on two new beating wrenches, and 3 dollars on a new set of safety glasses. She leaves me alone as far as my tools go, and never questions me on those purchases. In return She gets to call the shots on the other stuff. She lets me play rugby without complaing, go to the gym for extended periods of time, and take whatever supplement or chemical for my lifting that I choose without any complaints. So thusly Im more than happy to let her call the shots.

Thats not to mention the fishing trips I take and tackle and lures she puts up with me buying.

Plus If you were getting rewarded the way I am for giving her s new car. You wouldnt question the reasoning behind me letting her call the shots.

Women suck!!!!

Me and the wife when first talked about a new vehicle we was planning on a truck or SUV of some sort, big enough for family but something that can haul both my boats since I can't pull my thundercraft with my Corolla. When time came for the new vehicle I no longer had a matter in the search. She found a Dodge Charger she liked online and that was that. There was no bargaining and though the car is in MY NAME I'm lucky to drive it.

So she lets you spend your own hard-earned money on what you want (all reasonable purchases btw), she lets you play rugby, lets you go to the gym, lets you go fishing, and that makes it okay for her to drive around the new Denali you bought for yourself while you're driving around her little Focus? And the justification is that she gives you sex in return.

You should be able to spend your money on whatever you want, as long as it's not irresponsible and not making you guys broke. The money you spend on stuff and the time you spend doing those activities are all very reasonable, smart ways to spend YOUR money and time.

And you should be getting all the sex you want without buying her a car. It's a physical expression of love, not a (expletive) reward. She's got you trained.

Nothing wrong with spoiling your girl, or buying her a car. But when you buy yourself a car and she thinks it's ok to make it hers, and you let her, something's wrong with that picture.

Tony aren't you the dude that wrote a whole thread on wife's and kids suck and you want to die alone but happy because you did what YOU wanted to all your life? Now your offering marital advice or you just busting ballz of guys that share a life with a family. I don't understand do you know about being selfless, having a meaniful relationship, and making sacrifices for your family. LOL Just curious.

Posted

I made a thread asking for people's opinions on marriage, but never said wives and kids suck. I'll probably have kids one day myself. I may have kids now and not know it. Kidding.

I don't see how allowing his wife to usurp a car he bought for himself has anything to do with making sacrifices for his family or being selfless. It's called being spineless. If, on the other hand, he bought her the car, then that's fine. But that's not how he described it.

And for what it's worth, I'm in a meaningful rship w/ a great girl, but she'd never try a stunt like that, and if she tried, it wouldn't work, like...at all.

:)

(smiley is b/c I seem too serious and angry in this thread)

We were going to look at a Nissan Z and a couple Mazda RXs for me on Saturday. She was unaware of this and thought we were going to look at a truck. Well we never made it to the interstate. She saw this GMC u turned the car and pulled onto the lot. The moment I saw the look in her eyes and smile on her face while looking through it. I knew I was gonna be putting my car on hold, buying this for her, and driving that focus. Ive never seen her this excited about a car in all my life. Well we purchased early saturday afternoon and I gave her the keys to it last night. The look on her face when I put those keys in her hand, makes me driving the Focus bearable.

However the original version of the story sounds ten times as funny as the truth does. So I intend to stick with that. This post was just to let everyone know the reasoning behind it.

So she lets you spend your own hard-earned money on what you want (all reasonable purchases btw), she lets you play rugby, lets you go to the gym, lets you go fishing, and that makes it okay for her to drive around the new Denali you bought for yourself while you're driving around her little Focus? The Denali was bought for HER. I explained that in a different post. The first was just joking around.

Also there is no your money my money, its OUR money. She works part time so as to be able to be with our son before and after school. It saves us a ton not havibg to pay for day care. As for getting booty. I get more than enough as is. This is just bonus, and dont try and be romantic about it. Its for pleasure not an expression of love. ;)

As for my extra curricular activities. My time is divided between family and work. Free time is few and far between, half the time I work 12 plus hour days. On the rare occasions like these past 4 months 85% of my work has been between 8 and 10 hours a day five days a week. Usually I see my family for 2-3 hours a day. The rest of the time I talk with them on the phone. So if she didnt "let" me do those activities there would be no marriage. If and when you get married. Go work 12-16 hours a day 7 days a week for between 3-6 months. Heck go work 5 12 hour days, yet cant see your wife and child because you are 600 miles from home. Go and demand from your wife that its YOUR time and you can do whatever you dang well please. I'll bet the barn you will be on the street and she will own half your stuff. I saw my wife a total of 104 days the first year of our marriage. Because I was working I disagree off to support us. So yeah SHE does get to decide what I/WE do when Im in town. Dont judge me based on your flawed view of what a marriage is. Does that make me less of a man, because I work my tail to the bone, and let my wife dictate what I do when Im around? If so then I guess Im one large half a man.

You may have to turn in your man card, but look at the bright side.  You get to keep your tutu.

if you bought it for her that's all you had to say lol. good. I thought you were serious about buying it for yourself and letting her take it over while you drove around her focus. unfortunately, with guys the way they are nowadays, I had no idea you were joking.

You work in the oil industry? From your working conditions, that's what it sounds like.

Not a problem. Im a bit high strung right now. I've been kind of flying off the handle over stupid and little things lately. Which should all stop by the end of the month. My apologies for the rant of post earlier. I totally flipped off the handle with that, and you didnt deserve that. Again Im sorry.

As far as work. Im an electrician/iron worker that does pipe fitting too. I have specialized my welding in process piping and stainless. We do a lot of shutdowns, and various other construction. With a bunch of travel. I just seem to get brought in on the projects when they get behind. So I end up working lots of hours and lots of crappy hours. Its all good though I love what I do.

I would kill for a job doing construction for the oil industries. I want to get into that field more than anything else. That is one of my two dream jobs right now. The other is to work shut downs at the refineries. The new construction though is what appeals the most to me. Its just getting on with one of the companies doing it. Hopefully I can be doing something in that field by the end of the year. 32 an hour plus 150 a day per diem adds up extremely quick. Especially working 80 hour weeks. Thats for the shutdown work. I havent looked much into what they are paying the contractors for new construction.

No apology needed, I was a bit abrasive as well.

From what I hear, a lot of jobs in the oil industry are big, big money. Good luck.

While a Focus ain't my first choice for a ride, I own two, I like thirty plus miles to the gallon.

We went out to look at cars on saturday. And found a 2005 GMC Envoy XL Denali. Well my wife fell in love with it. Needless to say the beautiful black leather interior and wood grain won me over too. We agreed that it would be MY new ride. We traded in my 4runner and acquired said automobile. Well that lasted all of two days. Im now driving her dang Focus, and she has a new Denali. By God that girl played me like a fiddle. The only silver lining to all of this is, she is happy and as such I am happy.

Now I got to figure out a way to sell that stupid focus.

The funny thing is you thought you were getting a new ride when all you were doing was giving it a test drive.......Most important thing is like you said your wife is Happy. One more thing they all have a method to their madness as well.
