We went out to look at cars on saturday. And found a 2005 GMC Envoy XL Denali. Well my wife fell in love with it. Needless to say the beautiful black leather interior and wood grain won me over too. We agreed that it would be MY new ride. We traded in my 4runner and acquired said automobile. Well that lasted all of two days. Im now driving her dang Focus, and she has a new Denali. By God that girl played me like a fiddle. The only silver lining to all of this is, she is happy and as such I am happy.

Now I got to figure out a way to sell that stupid focus.

I want to see a pic of you in a Focus. Thats fuuuunnnyyy!

I will get a picture of that up after she gets home and can take it for me. I look like a bear in the circus in that Focus. At least its not a Miata, Mini, or Fiat.

I am over 6' tall and north of 300lbs, we had a 2002 Focus and I thought it was pretty roomy for a small car. Thats one of the reasons we bought it, and as soon as we are done with car seats, strollers, and that kind of junk I am getting rid of the mini van and going back to a focus.

Ours is a 07. The drivers seat is very roomy in it. Least its an SES as opposed to a base model. The whole reason I we decided I would take the focus. Is because She and the son are in my opinion safer in the GMC. The other reason being, doing the work I do I would destry rhat GMCs interior. I leave work everyday, beyond filthy. The GMC has black leather, and black carpet throughout. Drywall dust, mud, and filth stand out like a sore thumb on black.

I'm on my 3rd Denali - 2 Sierra's and now a Yukon XL -

Ā

Big Fan of that line.

Ā

Don't feel bad about not driving it much.

Ā

I'm sure you'll be able to get re-acquainted with it whenever it needs maintenance or needs to be washed . . . .

Ā

Nice ride either way ~ Congrats.

Ā Same here, except it's grease, oil, mud, and cow manure. Thats why I drive the old beater Jeep cherokee.

I had a focus, but mine was an SVT. It was my wife's first and she didn't get that thing over 3500 rpm. I had one kid at the time it was roomy for a two door getting the kids seat in and out was never an issue. Man I miss the 6 speed. It could be worse I drive a 2000 Saturn coupe currently yeah it has the awesome third door my kids love. Try riding around in that with your fishing gear and feel like a man lol it is burgandy and my wife likes to call it purple. But hey it gets me to work and was free.

We were going to look at a Nissan Z and a couple Mazda RXs for me on Saturday. She was unaware of this and thought we were going to look at a truck. Well we never made it to the interstate. She saw this GMC u turned the car and pulled onto the lot. The moment I saw the look in her eyes and smile on her face while looking through it. I knew I was gonna be putting my car on hold, buying this for her, and driving that focus. Ive never seen her this excited about a car in all my life. Well we purchased early saturday afternoon and I gave her the keys to it last night. The look on her face when I put those keys in her hand, makes me driving the Focus bearable.

However the original version of the story sounds ten times as funny as the truth does. So I intend to stick with that. This post was just to let everyone know the reasoning behind it.

Your a good man raider. Keeping the family/lady safe and happy is and should be number one for us men. And those Z's are sweet! good things come to those who wait, we will all get our rides one of these days.

Ā

On a side note, you seen the new sion fr-sĀ coupes? I ran across one on the road and googled it, man those are pretty sick, rear wheel drive, 6 speed, 2.0Ā boxer engine that makes 200hp @ 7,000 rpm....torques sucks though 151 @ 6100. Import tuner has a project car, mean green,Ā with a wide body kit that looked pretty good.

A turbo charger can do amazing things for a car like that. I really like that car too.

You think you driving a focus is bad. I drive a neon. Granted its the srt4 model. I am just at 6ft about 250lbs and losing. I can tell they made the car for woman. The pedal area sucks when wearing work boots. It is kind of tight for my size 12 ft. When trying to work the clutch. I had to relearn how to drive stick when I got my boots. In normal shoes its not so bad.

Ā

Also the scion all ready has a turbo out there. Some place in texas are making it for like 4-6 grand. Since its a boxer motor its bullet proof. There getting like 400hp and a tons of boost of a stock tranny and engine. There also running mid 11 1/4 mile times. That is if you care about that. I would rather be able to run fast laps on a road course.

1/4 miles are what I grew up on. Road courses get way to expensive for me. Not that 1/4 is cheap. It just costs less and uses different types of cars. At least that is my understanding of it. My older cousin had a mustang gt supercharged running a hundred shot of NOS in it. That car was scary as hell to ride in. However I love driving them and learning to work on them. Heck, back in high school if you had a civic Si or integra. You were the man. We had one kid at school that had a supped up integra type r. It was the only one I have ever seen. He wrapped around a phone pole doing 180 down a country road a week after graduation. Shot him 20 yards through the wind shield. The police said he was dead before he hit the ground.

You are right about the road course being cheaper. You can take a 10k car. Put in better shocks, breaks, tires, and proper safety equipment. All for about 10k more. You might not be the fastest but you would be having fun. Weather you are racing people. Or just doing track days or auto cross.

Ā

Also sorry to hear about your buddy. Think about the gs that he hit. Its like a NASCAR race car hitting the wall. If i recall a NASCAR race car hitting the wall at 180. It hits with a force of about 20-50gs. Makes you wonder how these race drivers just walk away don't it.

Drove a buddies srt4 for a week, nice, I liked it. It would get up n go, loved the whoosh of the blowoff and the takeoff when you hit the next gear. But I loved the focus, it was a road track car, it had the best stock suspension, you could take corners on on ramps at 80-90 mph. I too grew up in high school with imports, muscle cars and the drag track. But once I saw road racing I was hooked. Woulda loved to track the focus but never had the chance. I am now stuck watching on the sidelines. Hope to make it to the 24 hrs at Daytona later this month.

Next time, buy a 3/4 ton pickup with an off road suspension.Ā  She won't steal that vehicle. :)

I am not in to 4x4s or playing in the mud. But that would be one I would want. Trucks have a purpose. Were I came from its not looking good, playing in the mud, hauling family, or running after grocery's. That is what cars are for, and special built mud trucks.
