As stated in an earlier post I just moved into the area back into the parents apartment. I found a 17ft aluminum boat I might go look at later in the week so I need to figure out somethin as far as storage since the apartment complex won't let me park a trailer here. Anybody from up here know of any good places to keep it? I live right off of RT 1 about parallel to the mall, except on the other side of 95. Im lookin for somewhere cheap with 24 hour access. i do not want to keep itin a slip in the water.

And if you don't mind, any opinions on this? I was originally lookin for a 1448 or a 1656 flat bottom but I think this boat could run well and run shallow with a small 8 or 9hp motor. and It is a pretty good deal. obviously I would go and have the guy put it in the water to test everything before buyin it or anything

I saw that boat too, almost thought about going after it myself, but back to your post, how far are you willing to travel to get to it, and how much are you looking to spend?

Did you check to see if the apartment complex has off site storage available? Many condo/apartment associations have storage available.

We live in NOVA, too, and have to use an offsite lot due to HOA restrictions in our neighborhood. Its about $1000 a year, which is crazy expensive IMHO.

There arent many / any on-water spots around here for small boats. I don't use it, but Occoquan park has a storage lot if you like putting in near there, and the prices aren't TOO terrible compared to other NOVA sites.

Offsite storage really isn't that bad, but the downside is that none of them have electric so you do need to bring your batteries home if you want to keep them charged (as well as your graphs and all your gear if you don't want them stolen!)

yea, I don't have electricity where I store my boat. Not fun. Only pay $30 a month though.

I messaged the guy again but I guess he sold it or decided not to sell it because he never returned a message. As far as distance? if im going north or towards the res then it doesnt really matter if it is on the way sorta. I wouldnt want to go more than 10 minutes south.

Yes I checked. They were very confused and thought I wanted to store a giant Bayliner or somethin and after I finally got em to understand it will be a small jon boat they just said no.

This is a interesting topic...... and this is why I went with my inflatable...... I could not work out storage either.  Such a tough one to figure out.

Resurrecting this one to see if anyone has any additional or new info on off-site storage between Woodbridge and Fort Belvoir.   I'm in the market for a boat, but hate that I'm in a townhouse with no option to keep it on my property.  I've talked with Holly Acres and Gateway.  Both have 19 foot space for around $80 (no electric.)  HA is close, but I don't like that they don't have 24hr access.

I'm also agonizing about size.  I want 18'+ to get on Potomac, but I am liking the Occoquan rez more and more every time I fish it.

I did alot of research last month for storing a 17ft fiberglass boat and I have to admit that prices in the Springfield/alexandria/Burke and Lorton areas are pretty expensive.  I have a No watercraft trailer policy" in my HOA (which scks a$$ anyways but thats for a different day).  I found a street 2 blocks away and parked it on the street.  my only issue is when I use it, might not get my spot back when I return lol.

Wow, DJ.  Trusting soul.  I don't think I'd leave even a jon boat parked on the street.  No a lot of problems in my neighborhood, but still.....   I'd like to find someone close with extra space in their yard/driveway, etc.  I'd pay the commercial rate if it was close, secure and I could plug it in -- bonus if I could wash it and do minor work there.

I'm in the same situation. I park my jon boat on a service road by my house. only issue i've had was someone cut the boat cover and cats had a party. I decided to just use a tarp since its cheap to replace.
