Heading to BPS tomorrow to get a new rod. Going to primarily be a soft plastics rod. I'm thinking about the veritas or carbon light to pair up with a new baitcaster I got for Xmas. Any other options I should be considering? Price max is $100.

I owned 2 Veritas rods and they both broke. These were when they very first came out and I had heard there were some problems, but I think they may have taken care of it. Can't comment on the Carbon LIght.

If I were going to buy a new soft plastic rod for around $100, I would get a Shimano Compre 7'2" MH fast or MH x-fast.

Yeah I have some concerns on the veritas breaking. We're yours the regular or micro guides? I have a carbonlitght I use for crank baits and love it but really like the feel of the veritas.

I handled the Carbonlite the other day at BPS and I like the feel a lot more than Veritas. I'd go with either the Carbonlite, Mojo Bass or Compre. I have both the Mojo and Compre and I like them a lot.

Light cover and 10-15lb line St Croix 7' M power/fast action, heavier cover and 15-20lb line St Croix 7' MH power/fast action. I have both those rods in the LTB series but your budget being $100 the Mojo or Triumphs fit your requirments. I have several Mojo's in other powers/lengths/actions. They are fine rods for the money.

I own both carbon lite and veritas. Both rods are well built and will serve you well. My preference however is the veritas. The difference being the Eva grips on the veritas. The carbon lite rods have a rubber foam filled grip(at least mine does) . I also like the aesthetic appearance of the veritas over the carbon lite but that has no bearing on performance. Bottom line you will not be disappointed with either of them.

Well, its hard to beat the new Compre rods. I bought one, and havent looked back. It was either that or the Veritas for me when I was looking, and the Compre just out performs. Also, it felt better in my hands than the Carbonlite, but that Carbonlite is a fine rod.

Have a veritas, compre, and carbonlite. Of the 3 I'd rate them Carbonlite, Compre,Veritas.

If you dont mind ordering one I'd also highly recommend the *** ***.
