Check the reel seating before buying! Place your reel on and make sure it fits. There was a large recall on those rods because the reel seating did not extend far enough forward to grip the reel and hold into place. I was stuck with one of these recalls and ended up returning it and got my cash back. I lost faith in the rods after that point. I also decided that I did not like the way it felt in my hands.

Lil'skeeter,

Manufacturer I guess in "loose" terms. Yes they use actual production facilities in Asia. But the whole design process is done by them. They create the entire thing then use a coule plants in Asia to build. From what the guy was informing me was the one facility is the mass producer.. (Cheaper rods, common components) the other factory is the small run, high end factory that is some sort of ISO certified. For example, the extent that they oversee production, when I mentioned in a previous post about how I was concerned about a steelhead rod that was being made. (Too few guides) when explaining to him he pulled out his phone, called QC for the factory, and told them that this certain production run numbers need to be changed to 10 guides from 7. So for me saying the its a GLV factory is not correct, but like I mention above here everything is done by them, the couple Asian Factories just push the buttons. Hope that clears it up.

Dropshot 40, several of your posts state that GLV is the manufacturer or producer. Their web site states they are a wholesaler/dist. for manufacturers in Asia.

Great info DS40.   Although I hope your wrong!!  I just bought one of the Titanium spinning reels this past Thanksgiving.  I have a tradition that every year during Gander's black Friday sale I go and buy one of their spinning reels that they sell for $30.  Which those reels have been great for me.  I figure if they fall apart $30-$35 in no big deal.   No problems to report. 2010 and 2011 I went with the GSX Tournament series.  However, this year went the Titanium.  I have fished it a few times and have been happy with it, but I guess we will have to see if it holds up.  I guess I will have to look at doing something different this year.

B@ssCrzy,

AT Thanksgiving it would have been a Titanium 2 made by Wright Mcgill.. Im not saying mass quantities are bad.. It seems like a 15% defective rate.. Which in reels is high.. Usually 3-5% is considered norm. If I had to choose on a reel in that price range of 50-70 bucks hands down it would be a Pflueger President. We had less than 1% defect rate on them (and a portion of them were user abuse ie being stepped on). Least of all spinning reels we sold.. Better than Abu, Shimano, Daiwa, Quantum, Okuma... etc etc..
